Tottenham haven’t had much luck with strikers since losing Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.

The Lilywhites brought in Richarlison for £60million one year before Kane’s move to Bavaria, but the Brazilian has failed to show the form that he did for Everton.

Equally, Dominic Solanke has struggled with form last season following injury setbacks, with Spurs often having to play with a utility striker.

However, there has been hope that Spurs can produce a homegrown striker of their own, like they did with Kane in the coming years.

Will Lankshear left disappointed after his Oxford United debut

Tottenham have been on a spree of sending their young talents out on loan to gain more playing time this season.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The likes of promising midfielders Jamie Donley and Alfie Devine have joined Stoke City and Preston North End on loan, respectively, with a view to becoming part of the Spurs squad in the coming seasons.

Striker Will Lankshear was highly sought after by Championship sides, and ultimately, Oxford United got their man.

The O’s lost 1-0 to Portsmouth in their Championship opener on Saturday (9 August), leaving Lankshear disappointed.

In an Instagram story on Sunday (11 August), the loanee wrote: “Disappointed not to get anything out of yesterday’s game. However, I’d like to thank the fans for the warm welcome; the support was top.

“Time to put it right this week.”

Lankshear is highly rated in North London, and despite a difficult loan spell in the second half of the 2024/25 campaign with West Brom, he still showed promise.

The Baggies constantly chopped and changed their forward line, with plenty of turbulence within the managerial staff, no doubt making it a tough environment to play in.

Tottenham have managed their youngsters well this summer

Tottenham have been smart with how they have utilised their youngsters this summer.

Many of their younger squad members gained valuable experience and fitness among the first team during their preseason tour, before heading out on loan.

Giving youngsters experience by loaning them out has proved to be far more fruitful for players than being stuck with the Under-21s.

The likes of Kane and Dele Alli developed into top players as a result of their loans, and Spurs will hope their current batch of youngsters can replicate their careers.
