Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Brentford attacker Yoane Wissa during the summer transfer window.
They will face competition from Newcastle United, who are looking to sign the 28-year-old as well. According to Ben Jacobs, Tottenham are ‘in talks’ to sign the player and Brentford could demand more than £50 million for him.
He has been a key player for them, and he scored 20 goals in all competitions last season. Brentford have already sanctioned the departure of Bryan Mbeumo, and they cannot afford to lose two of their best attacking players in one window. It is no surprise that they are quoting substantial fees for the player. It will be interesting to see if any club is willing to pay up.
Wissa keen to sort out future
Meanwhile, the player is keen to sort out his future quickly, and a report from BBC claims that he has recently left the pre-season camp with Brentford to accelerate any potential move.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham follow up on their interest with an offer to sign him. They need more quality in the final third, and the 28-year-old could share the goal-scoring burden with Dominic Solanke.
Tottenham will be competing in the UEFA Champions League next season, and they need a deeper squad with more quality.
Yoane Wissa could fancy joining Tottenham
Meanwhile, the opportunity to play for them could be attractive for the striker as well. This could be his final opportunity to join a big club and prove himself in the Champions League.
The player will certainly hope that the two clubs can finalise an agreement. In addition to that, he would get to work with his former manager, Thomas Frank. The Denmark manager knows all about the player, and he could bring out the best in Tottenham. Frank has previously labelled Wissa as a “great” player.
Meanwhile, the move to Newcastle could be attractive for the player as well. They will be able to offer him Champions League football as well. He would get to play alongside a world-class player like Alexander Isak.
