Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign Maxime Esteve from Burnley during the summer transfer window.

They have already had a breakthrough in their pursuit of Mohammed Kudus and Morgan Gibbs-White. They are expected to sign both players shortly.

It seems that Tottenham have already moved on to other targets. They are now looking to improve their defensive unit by signing the 23-year-old defender. He was outstanding for Burnley in the Championship last season, and he was chosen as their best player.

Spurs back in for Maxime Esteve

He was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in January, but the North London club failed to get a deal done. They failed with offers for the player back then. They are now looking to revive the move. According to GMS, Tottenham are in talks to sign him, but Burnley are demanding £50 million for the defender.

He helped them secure promotion to the Premier League, and he is ‎undoubtedly the best defender at the club. It is no surprise that Burnley are making it difficult for him to move on.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to pay a premium for him. There is no doubt that he is a quality player, and he would help the north London club tighten up at the back.

Tottenham need a quality defender

Tottenham looked vulnerable defensively, and they need to improve in that area of the pitch. They managed to win a European trophy last season, and they will look to build on it and do well in the league as well. They finished in the bottom half of the league table last season.

Meanwhile, the opportunity to move to Tottenham will be quite exciting for Esteve as well. He is still relatively young, and he could improve with coaching and experience. He will look to establish himself as one of the best defenders in the top flight.
