Tottenham Hotspur are inching closer to completing a deal for Liverpool attacker Harvey Elliott, according to a report, as TEAMtalk analyses how the youngster’s sale to Thomas Frank’s side would enhance Arne Slot’s chances of signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle United before the summer transfer window closes.

After winning the Europa League last season and qualifying for the 2025/26 Champions League, Tottenham are determined to kick on and make themselves regulars among Europe’s elite. Under new manager Thomas Frank, the north London club have lofty ambitions, with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy also sanctioning some major deals.

Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha are two major signings for a Tottenham side aiming to finish in the Premier League top four next season.

Spurs have also converted Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel’s loan deals into permanent transfers, but the Premier League club are not done yet.

While Tottenham are looking to sign a new striker before the summer transfer window closes, they have also been forced to delve into the transfer market for a replacement for James Maddison.

Maddison is likely to miss the majority of the 2025/26 season after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee against Newcastle United in a pre-season friendly match in South Korea.

According to Football Transfers, Tottenham have ramped up their search for a replacement by contacting Liverpool and Elliott.

The report has claimed that Elliott is ready to join Tottenham after directly speaking to Frank, with Tottenham also willing to meet all of Liverpool’s demands for the 22-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder and as a winger.

The Premier League champions are open to selling Elliott for £40million (€46m, $54m) and want a buy-back clause in any deal, with the report adding that ‘Tottenham are willing to meet all of Liverpool’s demands on this front’,

Frank and Elliott had ‘direct conversations’ last week, with the Tottenham manager explaining to the youngster how he plans to play him in the number 10 role.

The former Brentford manager is reported to be ‘a strong admirer of Elliott’s technical quality’.

Football Transfers has noted that Elliott is ‘keen’ on playing first-team football next season to get into England’s 2026 World Cup squad, and the 22-year-old views a move to Tottenham as ‘an ideal opportunity’ to do just that.

Elliott to Tottenham could accelerate Isak to Liverpool

While Football Transfers is the only source so far to claim that Elliott is ready to join Tottenham, other media outlets, including Football Insider, have reported the north London club’s interest in the Liverpool attacker.

RB Leipzig are also in the mix for Elliott, with the Bundesliga club in talks with Liverpool over a summer deal.

Selling Elliott for £40m would boost Liverpool’s chances of signing Isak from Newcastle, as they would be able to get the funds needed for the Sweden international striker.

TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent, Fraser Fletcher, has reported that Liverpool are ready to offer up to £150m (€173m, $201.7m) for Isak after having had an initial bid of £120m (€138.6m, $161.4m) (including add-ons) rejected.

The Reds are waiting for Newcastle to line up a replacement before making their second offer.

Sources have told TEAMtalk that Liverpool are ready to offload Elliott, Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa to fund a deal for Isak.

Liverpool have already sold Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich for £65.5m (€75.6m, $88m), while Al-Hilal will pay Liverpool an initial €53m (£46.2m, $62m) plus add-ons for Nunez, which will see the deal surpass £50m (€57m, $67m).
