Tottenham’s January transfer business was kick-started with the signing of Conor Gallagher on Wednesday.
Gallagher joined Tottenham in a deal worth around £34million after spending the last 18 months at Atletico Madrid.
The 25-year-old’s move has been confirmed at the perfect time, too, following Rodrigo Bentancur’s injury and the lack of depth Thomas Frank has available in midfield.
Nonetheless, supporters are hoping the signing of Gallagher will start a successful window, as Tottenham Hotspur News rounds up all the latest transfer updates.
Tottenham to terminate Alejo Veliz’s contract
When Spurs forked out £13m for Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central in August 2023, the club were hopeful that he could become a future success.

But the 22-year-old has since made just eight senior appearances, and Tottenham sent Veliz back to Rosario Central on loan in the summer.
According to reports in Brazil, the Lilywhites are expected to terminate the remaining six months of the striker’s loan in the Argentine first tier to facilitate a move to Bahia.
The Brazilian outfit have already reached an agreement in principle with Tottenham over the signing of Veliz after submitting a multi-million-pound offer.
Napoli join Roma in Radu Dragusin race
Radu Dragusin was sidelined for almost an entire year with an ACL injury, and the Romanian international returned to action at the end of December.
Sadly, despite battling hard to return to full fitness, it appears the 23-year-old isn’t a long-term part of Frank’s plans and could exit the club this month.
Roma have shown an interest in Dragusin, while former Tottenham boss Antonio Conte wants to bring him to Napoli after submitting an enquiry.
Dragusin could therefore leave the North London side on loan in a bid for regular first-team football, something he isn’t guaranteed currently.
Souza undergoes Tottenham medical
Frank has been scouring the market for a new left-back, and Souza emerged as a priority target for Tottenham.
Spurs saw a £13m bid accepted for Souza, seeing the 19-year-old as a future long-term starter.
Now, the Brazilian is undergoing a medical ahead of a switch to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with a deal being close to completion.
Souza will have Destiny Udogie and Djed Spence to compete with for a place in the side, and many believe he could walk straight into the starting lineup.
Thomas Frank reacts to Conor Gallagher signing
The most important news of the day, though, was Spurs announcing the capture of Gallagher on a five-and-a-half-year contract.
Gallagher was welcomed to the club with open arms, despite representing Chelsea, and Frank was delighted to confirm his arrival.
“Conor is a top midfielder, who we have worked tirelessly to add to our squad,” Frank said.
“He is still young, so has plenty of room for improvement, but also has huge experience across the Premier League, La Liga and with the England national team.
“Conor has captained teams so will bring leadership, maturity, character and personality to our dressing room, while his running power, pressing ability and eye for goal will strengthen us in a key area of the pitch.
“I’m excited about working with him every day and I know the fans will love what he will bring to the team.”
