Tottenham and Burnley will go head-to-head in their opening Premier League match on Saturday afternoon at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Thomas Frank's side come into the game on the back of suffering late heartbreak in the UEFA Super Cup against PSG in midweek, as they blew a 2-0 lead in the final five minutes before losing on penalties. Scott Parker's team on the other hand come into the season full of confidence following a 100-point Championship season, where they had record-breaking defensive numbers.
Both managers will have some big decisions to make with their starting lineups, and this is how GIVEMESPORT expect the teams to look.
Tottenham Team News
Spurs will come into the game with a number of injury problems for this game, but none bigger than playmaker James Maddison who will miss the majority of the 2025/26 season after rupturing his ACL.
Dejan Kulusevski, Destiny Udogie and Radu Dragusin are also set to miss the game, while summer signing Kota Takai and returning loanees Bryan Gil and Manor Solomon are also unlikely to feature. Yves Bissouma could return, however, after missing the Super Cup for disciplinary reasons after being late to training several times.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Frank shared an update on his squad ahead of the game.
"Every player is available for the team tomorrow. Destiny is progressing, but's too early for him to be involved in the squad.
"Bissouma was a situation. I addressed it. There was a consequence. Bissouma will be in the squad tomorrow. We move forward. We have a big game tomorrow.
"Every player here is part of the plans. Manor [Solomon] is just back from his injury in terms of being on the pitch, he had part training with the team yesterday."
Tottenham Predicted XI
Tottenham Predicted XI: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Danso, Van de Ven, Spence; Palhinha, Bentancur; Johnson, Richarlison, Kudus.
Tottenham Predicted Substitutes: Kinsky (GK), Gray (DEF), Davies (DEF), Bergvall (MID), Sarr (MID), Bissouma (MID), Solanke (FWD), Johnson (FWD), Odobert (FWD).
Frank's side turned in a sensational performance against PSG before ultimately falling short, and it seems unlikely that there will be too many changes in the team as a result.
A back five worked well with protection in front, but Brennan Johnson could come into the attack to provide an extra option. £90,000-a-week star Dominic Solanke is likely to be on the bench as he continues to step up his recovery from injury, while £120,000-a-week duo Lucas Bergvall and Yves Bissouma provide depth too.
Burnley Team News
Burnley have had a very busy summer transfer window as they look to bring in Premier League experience and quality, with the likes of Kyle Walker, Martin Dubravka, Axel Tuanzebe, Armando Broja and Lesley Ugochukwu joining alongside others.
Bashir Humphreys, Manuel Benson, Zeki Amdouni, Zian Flemming and Jordan Meyer are unlikely to return after missing pre-season, but Dubravka and Connor Roberts should be fit after recent knocks
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Parker shared an update on his squad ahead of the game.
"No injury concerns, we have had a good pre-season. Picked up a couple of little niggles along the way but we are in a good place.
"The balance of the squad is crucial. We have signed players who have been in the division and understand what it looks like. It’s a young squad but these players are crucial for us. I am delighted to have them as part of our group."
Burnley Predicted XI
Burnley Predicted XI: Dubravka; Sonne, Walker, Ekdal, Esteve, Hartman; Cullen, Ugochukwu; Bruun Larsen, Foster, Anthony.
Burnley Predicted Substitutes: Hladky (GK), Roberts (DEF), Tuanzebe (DEF), Humphreys (DEF), Laurent (MID), Hannibal (MID), Edwards (FWD), Flemming (FWD), Tchaouna (FWD)
Parker is likely to stick with the players who have played regularly during pre-season and impressed, which means Armando Broja will probably miss out, but new striker Jacob Brun Larsen will start.
