Tottenham and Doncaster will go head-to-head in the EFL Cup third round at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday night with both teams keen to progress to the next round.

Thomas Frank's side battled back from 2-0 down at the weekend to earn a 2-2 draw with Brighton at the AMEX Stadium, while Grant McCann's side fell to a 2-1 home defeat to AFC Wimbledon in League One, and they now sit in seventh in the table, after reaching this stage of the competition with a 2-0 win over Accrington Stanley last month.

Both sides have some decisions to make with their lineup as they face big fixtures this weekend too, and this is how GIVEMESPORT expects the teams to look.

Tottenham Team News

Frank has got some long-term absentees in his squad in the shape of James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Radu Dragusin, while there are also concerns over Dominic Solanke's ankle problem too.

Kota Takai has returned to training following a foot problem but Yves Bissouma still hasn't featured with a knock. Randal Kolo Muani is also out having not made his debut due to injury, but Frank is likely to rotate his team.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Frank shared an update on the squad ahead of the game.

"It looks... good. Everyone available last time is available again.

"Of course Kulusevski is a top player. Instead of putting an exact month, I just want him back as soon as possible. It's not tomorrow but hopefully it's not too far away. A good chance to see Kulusevski in action before the end of the year."

"They [Takai and Solanke] are progressing. They both trained with the team today.

"Kolo Muani and Ben Davies, minor injuries and this game has just come too soon.

"It'll be a great opportunity to have some young players on the bench. It's always special to give a youngster the debut. It could be a good opportunity."

Tottenham Predicted XI

Tottenham Predicted XI: Kinsky; Spence, Danso, Romero, Udogie; Gray, Bentancur; Johnson, Simons, Odobert; Tel.

Tottenham Predicted Substitutes: Austin (GK), Porro (DEF), Van de Ven (DEF), Palhinha (MID), Sarr (MID), Bergvall (MID), Richarlison (FWD), Kudus (FWD), Scarlett (FWD).

Spurs are likely to switch their team around to provide minutes for players who need them, which means the likes of Archie Gray, Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso should start.

That means £430,000-a-week trio Micky Van de Ven, Richarlison and Mohammed Kudus are likely to be on the bench, while there's an opportunity for some youngsters to be in the squad too.

Doncaster Team News

Grant McCann will be without midfielder Harry Clifton who is dealing with a torn hamstring and is expected to miss at least six weeks of action.

However, the League One outfit have been boosted by news that winger Damola Ajayi, who is on loan from Tottenham, has been given permission to play in this game and will be pushing to start as a result.
