Tottenham have a major headache in surviving relegation, come this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a massive summer squad overhaul given the underwhelming campaign that they have endured in the ongoing 2025/26 season.

And among the positions that Spurs are looking to upgrade on, that striking role has been finding itself climbing up that pecking order.

And this is where the recent links of Tottenham being among the clubs monitoring Benfica striker Vangelis Pavlidis make sense. The Lilywhites have been looking to sign him when the summer window comes around.

The 27-year-old Greek international has netted 30 goals and further laid off six assists in all competitions this season and would add that much-needed firepower at N17.

No offer made yet

Though Tottenham are not alone in the race for his signing, with Premier League rivals Aston Villa also interested in signing him this summer. And the English duo will be joined by two Italian clubs in AC Milan and AS Roma, who are also tracking him.

But according to the latest from Portuguese newspaper O Jogo (as relayed by Sport Witness), despite all the scouting, tracing and interest, there are no formal offers that have landed on Benfica president Rui Costa’s desk at the time of writing. So despite all this admiration, an opening bid is yet to materialise from anyone.

Benfica paid €18m to sign Pavlidis but they will be expected to demand a big premium on that outlay this summer. But at the moment there have not been any figure which is being discussed in Portugal (atleast in public). That being said, you’d surely expect that two seasons of being elite in that #9 role means he will not come at anything close to his original fee.

Both of Aston Villa & Tottenham need Pavlidis

The Lilywhites have a massive problem in that #9 role with former Cherries star Dominic Solanke expected to the main target man up front but he has had his fair share of injury problems since he joined Tottenham. While Richarlison has been deployed as a cover for him for majority of the season but the Brazilian is also expected to be on his way out from N17 this summer. This opens up a position at Hotspur Way for when next season comes around.

Aston Villa will also gain significantly from signing Pavlidis with Ollie Watkins also attracting interest from a lot of big clubs and Emery will not mind selling him for marquee money and getting a fresh start with a new striker. Tammy Abraham has been a hit and miss in his loan spell at Villa Park.
