Last Word on Football brings you the latest team news and confirmed lineups ahead of Tottenham vs Charlton in Round Two of the EFL Cup. Spurs will be looking to bounce back from their opening-day defeat at Brentford, while Charlton arrive in north London having won all three of their games so far this campaign.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side were well beaten at Brentford on Saturday and will be seeking a response to their disappointment in west London. Tottenham have also continued to strengthen this week with the signing of Savio and a reported agreement for Omar Marmoush.

The Addicks finished 19th in the Championship last season but have made an excellent start to the new campaign, beating Cheltenham Town in Round One of the EFL Cup before recording league victories over Derby County and West Ham United.

Here is the latest team news and confirmed lineups for Spurs vs Charlton.

Tottenham vs Charlton: Team News for EFL Cup Tie

Tottenham Team News

Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro could return to the Tottenham match day squad after missing the weekend defeat, with De Zerbi confirming that both players will be on the bench. Pape Matar Sarr remains a doubt, while James Maddison won’t feature after picking up a shoulder injury at the weekend.

Spurs will continue to be without Mohammed Kudus, Wilson Odobert, Xavi Simons and Dejan Kulusevski, with all four still recovering from long-term injuries.

The EFL Cup tie could provide opportunities for several players who featured from the bench at Brentford. Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur, Mateus Fernandes and Dominic Solanke could all come into contention, while goalkeeper Martin Dubravka is expected to replace Antonin Kinsky.

Mikey Moore could also be handed another start after scoring twice in Spurs’ 3-0 victory over Hoffenheim during pre-season. There could be an opportunity for youngster Luca Williams-Barnett, while new signing Savio may also feature following his move from Manchester City.

With Newcastle to come at the weekend, De Zerbi must decide how strong a side to field as Tottenham look to secure their first win of the season.

Charlton Team News

Charlton head into the EFL Cup tie in excellent form, with Nathan Jones’ side winning all three matches so far this season.

The Addicks will be without Charlie Kelman and Kayne Ramsay, while Josh Edwards remains unlikely to feature as he continues his recovery from a long-term injury despite recently returning to training.

Timothy Ouma could also miss out as the summer signing continues to build his fitness following his loan move from Slavia Prague.

Jones has plenty of decisions to make with another Championship fixture against Preston North End coming at the weekend. The Charlton boss could therefore rotate his side, although he will be keen to maintain the momentum generated by victories over Cheltenham, Derby and West Ham.

One position to watch will be in goal, with summer signing Arthur Okonkwo starting against West Ham after Will Mannion had featured in the previous two matches.
