Last Word on Football brings you the latest team news and predicted lineups ahead of Tottenham Hotspur vs Charlton Athletic in Round Two of the EFL Cup. Spurs will be hoping to put their opening-day defeat behind them, while Charlton have won all three of their games so far this campaign.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side were well beaten at Brentford on Saturday and will be seeking a response to their disappointment in west London. That encounter featured a number of debutants in the Spurs team, and they have recruited further this week with the signing of Savio and a reported agreement for Omar Marmoush.

The Addicks finished 19th in the Championship last season but head into this one with a 100% record this season, having already seen off Cheltenham Town in Round One of the competition before league wins against Derby County and West Ham United.

Here is the latest team news for Spurs vs Charlton.

Tottenham Team News

Tottenham are expected to make a few changes to the side that lost at Brentford with their Premier League clash against Newcastle United on the horizon. That said, it would not be surprising if De Zerbi goes strong in an attempt to get a first win of the term under his belt.

They will continue to be without Mohammed Kudus, Wilson Odobert, Xavi Simons and Dejan Kulusevski, while Pape Matar Sarr remains a doubt for this one.

James Maddison also picked up a knock against Brentford and is unlikely to be risked, but Pedro Porro and Micky van de Ven could feature off the bench after missing the game at the weekend, with De Zerbi confirming both will be on the bench.

Otherwise, Wednesday could see starts for the likes of Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur, Mateus Fernandes and Dominic Solanke, all of whom featured off the bench at Brentford, while goalkeeper Martin Dubravka is expected to come in for Antonin Kinsky.

There could also be another opportunity from the start for Mikey Moore and perhaps youngster Luca Williams-Barnett, who was named on the bench at the weekend. New signing Savio may also feature, though it could be a game too soon for the Brazilian.

Charlton Team News

Coming into this one off the back of three straight wins, Nathan Jones will be looking to upset the odds and cause a shock at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Addicks will be without striker Charlie Kelman and defender Kayne Ramsay, while Josh Edwards continues his recovery after a long-term injury and will probably miss this one despite returning to training.

Charlton may also be without summer signing Timothy Ouma, who joined on loan from Slavia Prague, as he builds up his fitness for the new campaign.

It will be interesting to see if Jones sticks with the spine of the team that has been successful in the opening three games, with Amari’i Bell, Tyreece Campbell, Sonny Carey, Nathaniel Chalobah, Conor Coventry, Karlan Grant, Lloyd Jones, Billy Koumetio and Dan McNamara starting all three games thus far.

One decision to be made will be who starts in goal, with summer signing Arthur Okonkwo thrown straight in at West Ham on Saturday. Will Mannion started the previous two games, and Jones could make other changes with one eye on Preston North End’s visit to The Valley at the weekend.

Tottenham Predicted Lineup

Dubravka, Gray, Danso, Davies, Udogie, Bentancur, Bergvall, Fernandes, Tel, Moore, Solanke

Charlton Predicted Lineup
