Last Word on Football brings you the latest team news and confirmed lineups ahead of Tottenham Hotspur vs Coventry City in the Premier League. Tottenham are still waiting for their first league victory after rescuing a point against Manchester United last time out, while Coventry head to north London looking to make it three consecutive league wins on the bounce.
Spurs have yet to win any of their first six Premier League matches, although their performances have shown signs of improvement. Dominic Solanke’s late header earned them a draw at Old Trafford last week, but Roberto De Zerbi’s side may feel they missed an opportunity to claim all three points after controlling large parts of the contest. Their home record is another concern, having drawn once and lost twice at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the league this term.
Coventry, meanwhile, arrive in good spirits after an impressive 4-1 victory over Newcastle United. Frank Lampard’s team had already ended their wait for a league win before the international break, beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 away from home. Having shipped ten goals across their opening four matches, the Sky Blues have responded with back-to-back victories and will hope to carry on that momentum.
Tottenham vs Coventry: Team News for Premier League Clash
Tottenham Team News
Tottenham will be without both Savio and Lucas Bergvall after Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that the pair have suffered injury setbacks.
Savio picked up a muscular problem before the squad’s training camp in Marbella and is expected to miss several weeks. Bergvall also faces a spell on the sidelines after experiencing knee pain during the draw against Manchester United, with De Zerbi estimating that the midfielder will be out for around two weeks.
Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended following his sending-off against United, while Pedro Porro and Mykhailo Mudryk remain unavailable with their respective injuries.
There is still no immediate return for Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert, who are recovering from long-term knee injuries. Richarlison is also ineligible for Premier League selection, despite featuring for Tottenham’s U21 side in their 2-2 draw with Cheltenham Town in the EFL Trophy during the week.
However, De Zerbi has received a welcome boost ahead of Monday’s match, confirming that Dejan Kulusevski will be included on the bench. The Swedish midfielder has been sidelined since May 2025, and could make his eagerly-awaited return to action on Monday evening.
Coventry Team News
Lampard confirmed that Kane Kesler-Hayden is available for selection ahead of the trip to north London, while Josh Eccles remains sidelined with an ankle issue and is hoping to make progress over the next two to three weeks. Luke Woolfenden faces a longer spell out, while Taiwo Awoniyi returns after completing a three-match suspension.
Lampard must decide whether to bring Awoniyi straight back into the starting lineup, as Sidiki Cherif impressed against Newcastle United, scoring his first goal for the club, while Ellis Simms also found the net after coming off the bench.
The Coventry boss could opt to keep faith with the side that started the Newcastle victory, including the midfield combination of Caleb Yirenkyi and captain Matt Grimes playing behind Jack Rudoni.
Lampard also faces a decision over his defensive shape, as Coventry lined up with a back four against Newcastle after previously using a back three against Manchester City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Nottingham Forest. Whether he opts to stick with the same system will be one of the main selection questions for this one.

The Last Word: Prediction
Tottenham will view Monday’s fixture as an opportunity to finally secure their first Premier League victory. Coventry may be arriving on the back of two wins, but their record of conceding 11 goals in six league matches gives the hosts reason to believe they can cause problems.
Nevertheless, Lampard’s side have shown renewed confidence in recent weeks and should provide a stern test. The Coventry manager will also draw on his impressive record against Spurs away from home, both during his playing career and in management.
De Zerbi’s team could find themselves under pressure if the visitors score first. However, if Tottenham reproduce the attacking threat they showed against Aston Villa and Manchester United and take the lead, they have the quality to claim their first three points of the campaign.
Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 Coventry City
