Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a deal to sign Brazilian left-back Souza from Santos during the January transfer window after reports from his home nation, according to journalist Tom Barclay.
According to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs, Spurs could make a second move to try and bring Manchester City winger Savinho to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this month to strengthen Thomas Frank's attacking options, having failed to agree a deal during the summer.
The City forward has been described as a 'dream' target to replace Brennan Johnson, who completed his switch to Premier League rivals Crystal Palace on Friday.
But Savinho might not be the only Brazilian player who the north Londoners attempt to sign in the next few weeks, with interest in the 19-year-old Santos player confirmed.
Tottenham Keen to Sign Souza
Reports from Brazil in recent hours had alluded to Tottenham's interest in the teenage full-back, with suggestions they've even made an official bid for his services.
While Barclay hasn't confirmed if things have gone that far, the Sun journalist says Spurs do have an interest in bringing the 'gem' to the club in the next month.
Despite his tender years, Souza has already made 38 appearances for Santos - who Neymar also represents - scoring one goal and providing four assists.
Souza Has Been Heavily Praised
Interest from Tottenham and other clubs is no surprise given the rave reviews Souza has been getting in his homeland.
According to scout Antonio Mango, the defender has a 'sweet left foot' and has been described as enthusiastic, tenacious, aggressive and energetic.
Meanwhile, South American football journalist Nathan Joyes believes that the 'athletic' teenager's attacking numbers would drastically improve if he was part of a better squad.
Tottenham Need More Depth at Left-Back
Tottenham's current options at left-back are Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies and Djed Spence, although the latter's natural position is on the opposite flank.
With Davies' contract expiring at the end of June and with the Welshman looking set to depart, it is no surprise to see that the north London outfit may be looking to bring in a new player.
With a left-back and an attacker on the agenda, it could be a busy month of incomings for Tottenham as they look to push themselves up the Premier League table and boost their Champions League hopes in the second half of the season.
