Tottenham Hotspur are among several Premier League clubs scouting Angers goalkeeper Yahia Fofana ahead of the summer transfer window, journalist Graeme Bailey has revealed.
The Lilywhites have reportedly been impressed with the Ivory Coast international following his strong campaign in Ligue 1, where he is helping keep Angers clear of the drop zone.
Spurs had scouts in attendance during Angers’ 2-0 win over Montpellier last weekend and took a closer look at the 24-year-old, who has just over 12 months remaining on his contract, which expires in June 2026.
Yahia Fofana Attracting Spurs Interest
The Lilywhites went on a Ligue 1 scouting mission
According to Bailey, several Premier League clubs have been alerted to Fofana’s form in Ligue 1 and have travelled to France to watch the promising shot-stopper.
Tottenham could soon identify the 24-year-old as a potential long-term replacement for Guglielmo Vicario, who endured another woeful performance in their 4-2 defeat against Wolves last weekend.
Fofana, praised as ‘one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe’, joined Angers from Le Havre in 2022 and has been their first-choice goalkeeper ever since.
He has made 73 appearances for the French club to date, conceding 100 goals and keeping 21 clean sheets.
GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Fofana has kept 12 clean sheets in 18 appearances for Ivory Coast.
Tottenham are heading for what could be their worst Premier League finish in over 20 years, as they sit 15th with six games left.
The Lilywhites finished in the same position in the 1993/94 season and last missed out on a top-half finish in 2007/08.
Ange Postecoglou’s future has come under scrutiny in recent weeks, with the upcoming Europa League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt deemed crucial to his chances of remaining in the job.
