Tottenham Hotspur are now eyeing a move to sign Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho this summer to replace captain Heung-Min Son, according to TBR Football.
New manager Thomas Frank was dealt a blow in his quest to rebuild the squad after the club agreed to trigger Gibbs-White's £60m release clause, before Nottingham Forest stepped in with a legal challenge and eventually convinced the player to sign a new contract.
Now the Lilywhites are being forced to look at alternative options for the attacking midfield positions, with Argentina winger Garnacho emerging as a real option.
Tottenham Eyeing Garnacho Move
Garnacho, who has been described as "phenomenal", is expected to leave Man Utd this summer after a public fall-out with manager Ruben Amorim, with INEOS looking to cash in to help raise funds for other transfer business.
While Gibbs-White plays more as a number ten and Garnacho plays as a winger, both players are likely to cost in the region of around £60m and that means the north London club could instead pivot and put the funds towards signing the Old Trafford youngster.
Spurs are also expecting captain Heung-Min Son to move on this summer, with GMS sources understanding that a deal to see him join LA FC is advanced, and Garnacho could instead come in to replace him on the left-wing.
The north London club will also face competition from the likes of Aston Villa and Chelsea for his signature, with the player prioritising a move to stay in the Premier League over options aborad.
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have already made an approach to Man Utd to find out what it would take to get a deal done, but the player's preference of remaining in England is likely to be a big hurdle to any deal, and Bayern have just completed a move to sign Liverpool star Luis Diaz.
