Tottenham Hotspur have turned their attentions to a deal for Leicester star Bilal El Khannouss after missing out on Morgan Gibbs-White, according to TBR Football.
The north London club have had a moderate transfer window so far under new manager Thomas Frank, with Kota Takai and Mohammed Kudus arriving to bolster the squad, while they also thought they had a deal sealed for Nottingham Forest playmaker Gibbs-White.
However, despite initially agreeing a move to Spurs, a legal challenge from Forest put the deal in limbo, and the player has now signed a contract extension at the City Ground to bring the saga to an end, leaving Tottenham eyeing alternative options instead.
Tottenham Want to Sign El Khannouss
Expected to leave after relegation
El Khannouss, who has been described as a 'magician' by scout Jacek Kulig, enjoyed a fine maiden season in the Premier League with Leicester City and was one of the standout performers for the Foxes despite their relegation to the Championship.
Those performances have seen him attract the attention of several clubs and now Spurs have entered the race for the Moroccan following their disappointment in the chase fro Gibbs-White.
The 21-year-old is expected to leave the King Power Stadium and it's understood he is available for around £25m, which is well within the budget in north London.
But Frank will have to see off stiff competition from the likes of Newcastle United, while Sky Sports have also reported that Crystal Palace are eyeing the forward as their top option to replace Eberechi Eze should he leave Selhurst Park this summer..
Spurs are also looking at a number of other deals with midfield being seen as a priority, as Portugal international Joao Palhinha has emerged as a top target, while GMS understands that captain Heung-Min Son is advancing on a permanent move to LA FC.
