Tottenham Hotspur could trump other Premier League sides in the race to sign Valencia youngster Cristhian Mosquera in the coming months, according to reports - with the Spain-born centre-back being on their radar ahead of a potential move to the English top-flight.

Spurs recorded their worst-ever finish in the competition, losing 22 of their 38 games to go 17th in the table in the final standings - but a Europa League win means that they will be playing Champions League football next season against the odds. And that could see them progress in the race for Mosquera, who has suitors across the continent.

Report: Tottenham Want to Sign Cristhian Mosquera

The Lilywhites are in need of recruits this summer to help their European push

The report by CaughtOffside states that Mosquera has shone in La Liga, and that has seen him attract interest from the Premier League. Tottenham are one of the sides interested, with the north London outfit having 'monitored' the Spanish youth international ahead of a potential move.

It's thought that his asking price is around €30million (£25million), which is largely affordable for Premier League clubs. Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig are thought to be the club that Mosquera is 'leaning towards', due to his representatives believing that honing his craft in the Bundesliga would suit him more than being thrust into the Premier League, where he can become 'one of the Europe's best'.

But Tottenham can offer Mosquera the prestige of playing Champions League football and that could swing a decision in his favour.

Mosquera, born in Alicante, joined Valencia's youth setup as a 12-year-old and worked his way through the youth ranks before making his debut in January 2022 as a 17-year-old in the Copa del Rey - and that was followed up by a La Liga debut just three days later against Sevilla. Although he's just 20 years of age, he's already made 82 top-flight appearances for the Mestalla outfit to mark himself as one of the league's best young prospects.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Cristhian Mosquera has 29 youth caps for Spain.

Ange Postecoglou already has a young back line, with Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie, Archie Gray, Radu Dragusin and Pedro Porro all being 25 or younger - and Mosquera would challenge Van de Ven for minutes, potentially even coming straight into the starting lineup for Cristian Romero should he move on this summer, with Atletico Madrid being touted for a move.
