Tottenham Hotspur chiefs are reportedly eyeing a move to sign Sheffield Wednesday star Pierce Charles for Roberto De Zerbi this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

After a full week of training with his new players, De Zerbi is ready for his Tottenham bow when they travel to face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.

Spurs currently find themselves one place and point above the Premier League relegation zone following a disastrous run of form that means they are still without a top-flight win in the whole of 2026.

The north Londoners could actually find themselves in the bottom three by the time they kick off on Wearside, with 18th-placed West Ham United hosting rock-bottom Wolverhampton Wanderers at the London Stadium on Friday night.

De Zerbi knows he and his squad need to hit the ground running with just seven matches of the season left, and three points against Regis Le Bris' men would be the ultimate boost for a low-on-confidence squad of players.

While full focus for the manager and his squad is on Sunday, Spurs chiefs are beginning to think about potential transfer targets for the summer, no matter which division they find themselves in next term.

Tottenham Monitoring Charles Closely With Star in Demand

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham are one of a number of Premier League clubs monitoring the impressive young goalkeeper ahead of the summer transfer window.

Spurs are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping department this summer, with both Guglielmo Vicario and Antonin Kinsky flattering to deceive at certain points during their starts this season.

Charles has been outstanding for rock-bottom Championship club Sheffield Wednesday, who will be playing League One football next term following a disastrous year financially, with the club currently undertaking what will hopefully be a successful takeover bid from David Storch and his consortium.

The Northern Ireland international was labelled as 'unstoppable' following his outstanding display against Leicester City on Easter Monday, when he made a league-high 11 saves to help the Owls earn a 1-1 draw against the Championship strugglers.

Wednesday won't want to lose him as he is clearly their biggest footballing asset, with his price tag only going up.

Tottenham will face competition for Charles' signature, with Manchester City keen to re-sign him and with the stopper also garnering interest from Leeds United and Newcastle United too.

Vicario 'Agrees Terms' to Leave Tottenham

The appearance of Kinsky against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League suggested he isn't ready to be Spurs' regular number one yet, while Vicario looking more and more likely to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the end of the season.

Reports in Italy earlier this month suggested that the Italy international has already agreed terms with Inter Milan over a contract for next season, with it being said previously that he is 'determined' to leave and return to Serie A in the summer.

Vicario clearly didn't get on too well with Igor Tudor, so it will be interesting to see if his relationship improves with his compatriot De Zerbi in the next few weeks.

Tottenham will be hoping to have the 29-year-old back as soon as possible after he underwent hernia surgery prior to the international break, missing Italy's games as they failed to qualify for the World Cup again.
