Tottenham ‘will be very grateful’ to Daniel Levy after ‘surprise’ news out of nowhere
Daniel Levy shook the football world by ending his 24-year stint as Tottenham executive chairman.
While his departure last week was sudden, Levy perhaps sowed the seeds for his Spurs departure during his interview with Gary Neville.
During his tenure, Levy received intense criticism from Tottenham supporters for his supposed lack of investment in the playing squad.
However, now that we can look back at his reign, should the Lilywhites feel grateful for their former executive chairman?

Daniel Levy’s exit from Tottenham was a surprise
Levy’s exit from Spurs could have been planned since Christmas, but if it was, then he did a good job of keeping it under wraps.
Now, football finance expert Dan Plumley – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has weighed in on his departure.
“I don’t think anyone was really expecting it. I think it came as a bit of a surprise,” he said.
“We know he’s talked about it in the past, but, until it happens, still, he seems like he’s always been there, doesn’t he?
“He’s synonymous with Spurs and the financial, kind of astuteness that he’s rubbed that club with, and how successful they’ve been financially.
“There are a lot of things that Spurs, I’m sure, financially will be very grateful for, with Daniel Levy, and it is a long tenure, and he has been a real focal point of that club.
“It was a bit of a surprise to see it break like it did. Everyone’s got to leave a job sometime, of course they have, but I think a fair few people were quite surprised by just the timing of it, and it almost came out of nowhere.”
What next for Spurs after Daniel Levy’s departure?
After the 63-year-old left his position, the talk naturally drifted to whether a takeover would follow.
ENIC holds the majority stake in the North London club, but they have no interest in selling at this point, making that very clear already.
Indeed, it is understood that their intentions lie with building further success on the pitch after delivering the Europa League trophy.
However, there are two sets of interested buyers, including former Newcastle United director Amanda Staveley’s PCP International and a consortium led by Roger Kennedy and Wing Fair-Ng.
While they have a deadline of 5 October to announce a firm intention, news of the club’s next steps should be coming soon.
