Tottenham winter target arrested after breaking man’s nose in West End night spot

Misery loves company, and last night the universe decided that having Yves Bissouma on Tottenham’s books wasn’t enough, and we really needed to up our delinquent game. According to eyewitness accounts and police reports, 29-year-old Ivan Toney was approached by fans, and it went wrong.

One attempted to grab him for a selfie, reportedly putting his hands around Toney’s neck. Toney allegedly responded by saying, “Get off me, get off me,” and headbutting one of the men.

According to The Sun: the alleged victim suffered a broken nose (with blood visible from the bridge of his nose) and a broken ring finger; his injuries are not life-threatening. The London Ambulance Service assessed three people at 1:57 am—one was taken to a local hospital, while the others were discharged on site. The Met issued the following:

“We were called to Wardour Street at 00:47hrs on Saturday following reports of an assault. The victim was taken to hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening. A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of two counts of assault and one count of affray. He has since been released on bail while inquiries continue.”

A witness suggested Toney may have felt threatened, possibly fearing an attempt to steal his jewellery or watch: “He might have thought they were trying to attack him to take his chain or watch off him.” This makes a world of sense, given how many footballers over the years have been
