Tottenham Hotspur senior figures are 'working around the clock' to agree a deal for Mauricio Pochettino to join them in the summer, according to a report in Spain.
Spurs decided to go down the interim manager route following the dismissal of Thomas Frank on Wednesday, with a deal agreed for free-agent Igor Tudor to join them until the end of the season.
The Croatian boss arrives at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium having been sacked by Juventus at the end of October, following a defeat at Lazio that had further extended a run of seven games without a win.
The north Londoners can now get to work on choosing who they want in full-time charge next term, with one clear favourite.
Tottenham Want Mauricio Pochettino Back
According to Fichajes, Pochettino is the consensus candidate among Tottenham decision-makers as they plot their return to the elite in the 2026-27 season.
Spurs fans also made their feelings clear during Thomas Frank's final match in charge against Newcastle on Tuesday, as they chanted Pochettino's name during another poor performance.
The report says that the intention of Tottenham is to bring the 53-year-old back to the club once his contract expires with the USA this summer, following the conclusion of their home World Cup.
The north Londoners are said to have full confidence in the 'world-class' Argentine being the only manager who can lift them out of their current malaise, knowing how the club works as well as he does.
They also believe he has unfinished business at the club, having led them to the 2019 Champions League final, where they were beaten by Liverpool.
The report adds that Tottenham decision-makers are 'working around the clock' to find an agreement for Pochettino to rejoin them in the summer.
Mauricio Pochettino is in London
It certainly hasn't gone unnoticed by Tottenham fans that Pochettino is currently in London following updates on his Instagram account.
Fans will put two and two together, but as GIVEMESPORT sources have maintained in recent weeks, there is no chance of the Argentine leaving his post with the USA before the World Cup.
Of course, a deal could be discussed for after the World Cup now, but according to GMS sources, we shouldn't read too much into the manager's presence in the capital during Spurs' manager search.
