Tottenham’s Mikey Moore thankfully walks away from red card-worthy horror tackle

Mikey Moore continued his impressive loan spell with Rangers in the Old Firm derby against Celtic, although the Tottenham Hotspur youngster was fortunate to avoid a serious injury following a reckless challenge during the clash.

Tottenham Hotspur certainly have every reason to be proud of Mikey Moore’s loan spell this season with Scottish side Rangers.

Of course, it has not always been smooth sailing, as the teenager went 10 league games without a goal and also struggled for game time earlier in the season during Russell Martin’s tenure.

However, a resilient Moore held his own, put his head down and got to work. His dedication and commitment saw him nominated for Young Player of the Season in Scotland, an award he later secured.

The Spurs youngster has shown no sign of easing off, marking his latest milestone with a goal against Rangers’ bitter rivals Celtic in the Old Firm derby.

The teenager is no stranger to scoring on this stage, having also found the net earlier in the season in a 3-0 win against Celtic.

However, in the latest encounter, the Spurs youngster was on the receiving end of a dangerous tackle as Celtic defender Alistair Johnston lunged in on the young wide forward with his studs showing, clipping Moore’s ankle in the process.

It could have been far worse for the teenager had he not reacted quickly and leapt over the challenge. Johnston, meanwhile, was fortunate to avoid a red card after the incident.

Tottenham have endured more than their fair share of injuries this season, and given their luck on that front, there would have been real concern over the condition of the young Lilywhite.

Mikey Moore continues to shine for Rangers

Rangers did fall to a disappointing 3-1 defeat, which surely dents their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

As it stands, they are currently seven points behind second-placed Celtic, while Hearts sit top of the group.

Still, while Rangers may have faltered, Moore can certainly be proud of his display after receiving a 7.0 FotMob rating – the highest of any Rangers player. He scored once, created a chance and won half of his ground duels.

Spurs will expect the teenager to return to N17 once his loan spell finishes before deciding the next step in his development.
