Thomas Frank wants to bring in a new number six at Tottenham Hotspur this summer to reinforce his midfield options.

TBR Football understands that Tottenham are trying to sell Yves Bissouma and are keen to bring in a player who can offer an upgrade on him.

The North London club are assessing several midfield options and have started talks with one player about a move back to London.

Spurs have been made aware that one of their top targets is keen to leave his club this summer and is open to discussing personal terms with them.

Tottenham fans think Joao Palhinha could be ideal signing

Tottenham Hotspur supporters believe that Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha would be a ‘great’ signing for them this summer.

Last week, TBR Football revealed that talks had taken place between Tottenham and Palhinha over a transfer.

Now, Bayern have revealed they want £30m for Palhinha, although Spurs are hoping to pay closer to £20m for the Portuguese international.

Spurs believe that the former Fulham star would be the ideal fit for Thomas Frank’s midfield, and Spurs fans are in agreement.

The arrival of a new midfielder could block Archie Gray’s minutes in the team, however, some supporters actually believe Palhinha could be a ‘great mentor’ for the youngster.

One fan said: “If we want a destroyer, he’d be a great shout and obviously has Premier League experience, which may prove essential.”

“I would be delighted with him, Garnacho, Gibbs-White, Palhinha, Wissa and a left-back, that would make it a fabulous window,” another supporter claimed.

There were further shouts for Palhinha being a good addition: “Absolutely. We need a number six, even if he’s a stopgap until next summer, he’ll be a very good one. Great player and a much-needed player profile.”

Finally, one fan was a big fan of Spurs potentially signing the 30-year-old, claiming: “This is the dream signing!”

The 30-year-old would bring a great deal of experience to Spurs’ midfield, although there will be concerns over his underwhelming campaign at Bayern Munich.

Palhinha, who joined Bayern for £47m, struggled to break into the team under Vincent Kompany last term, making just 17 Bundesliga appearances.

Thomas Frank could love coaching Archie Gray at Tottenham

Frank will be intrigued by the prospect of coaching Gray at Tottenham, having tried to bring him to Brentford before his move to North London.

Gray had a medical at Brentford and agreed personal terms with the Bees, thinking they’d agreed a club-record deal of £40m to sign the midfielder.

However, he changed his mind and opted to make the switch across London instead to join Ange Postecoglou’s team.

The Danish head coach will now finally get his hands on the teenager, and he could turn him into a brilliant midfield option for his team.

The 18-year-old will be hoping for plenty of minutes in midfield next season, having spent most of last season featuring in defence.
