Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor have made an unsuccessful attempt to sign Richarlison in the past 24 hours.

After their failed effort, it is not clear whether Trabzonspor will make a further attempt to bring in the 29-year-old. While the transfer deadline in England has passed, Turkish clubs are able to buy players until Friday, September 4.

Richarlison faces an uncertain future at Tottenham, having previously requested to leave the club. The signing of Omar Marmoush on loan from Manchester City has pushed the Brazilian further down the pecking order, with his playing time under Roberto De Zerbi looking increasingly scarce. He was left out of Spurs’ squad for the 2-0 defeat by Newcastle United on Saturday.

In late August, before Tuesday’s deadline, Tottenham agreed a deal with Everton that would have seen the forward return to the club he left in 2022. Ultimately, he declined the personal terms on offer, before making a series of cryptic remarks on Instagram.

“After everything I’ve been through in the last few years, I’ve decided that never again will anyone decide my future for me,” Richarlison wrote. “I went through a lot of bad things, and almost all of them happened because decisions were made by other people. Pressure, threats, retaliation — none of that scares me. I’ve been through far worse, believe me.”

Richarlison has one year remaining on his Tottenham contract, having joined from Everton in the summer of 2022. He was Spurs’ top scorer in the Premier League with 11 goals.
