Micky van de Ven scored two goals for Tottenham against Everton, but it was Kevin Danso who was the unsung hero.

Spurs got the three points at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, becoming the first team to beat the Toffees at their new home.

Van de Ven got a brace for Thomas Frank’s team in the first half, with Pape Matar Sarr putting the result beyond doubt with his goal in the 89th minute as the game ended 3-0.

While most of the spotlight will be on the Netherlands international, there were several standout performers for the North London outfit on the day.

Tottenham defender Kevin Danso not in Troy Deeney’s Premier League Team of the Week

Danso won one of his attempted tackles, made 19 clearances, blocked two shots and three recoveries against Everton, as per Sofascore.

The centre-back also won 100 per cent of his ground duels and four of his five aerial duels, registering a passing accuracy of 91 per cent.

In contrast, Van de Ven was the best defensively, losing one of his attempted tackles and winning just one of his four aerial duels.

While the 24-year-old defender’s goals were crucial for Tottenham, it can be argued that the former Lens star had a better defensive performance.

It looks like Deeney would rather have defenders in his team who score goals than those who make sure they remain solid at the back.

The former Watford striker also has Joe Rodon and Ezri Konsa in his Team of the Week, but it’s safe to say Danso should be in there.

Spurs first-team regular has uphill battle under Thomas Frank

Danso’s impressive performance against Everton will leave Frank with a massive dilemma regarding his team selection.

Cristian Romero has been a first-team regular at Tottenham and is the captain, but the former Lens centre-back’s displays can’t be ignored.

While the Argentina international has been on the sidelines in recent weeks, he could potentially be looking over his shoulder at the North London outfit.

It would be surprising to see Frank leave the captain out of the starting lineup if he’s fit, but Danso has given him that headache.
