Troy Parrott is a player Everton admire, and have done for many years.
The Toffees were interested in signing the Irishman during the winter transfer window, with many Everton fans on our TalkingPoints platform picking the AZ Alkmaar No.9 as the player they want the most.
Parrott has now spoken to VI in the Netherlands after netting his 23rd goal of the season in 32 appearances – and the Republic of Ireland international revealed he once turned Everton down.
Which former Everton striker would you hypothetically bring back to play in the current side? 🤩
Troy Parrott admits Tottenham gave him “the best feeling” when snubbing Everton
The 24-year-old actually had the chance to sign for Everton in 2017, but opted for Spurs instead as he got “the best feeling” from the north Londoners.
Parrott said: “I turned out to be good at it (playing as a striker). From a young age, I was asked by foreign clubs to do internships. I played for Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Celtic.
“Some clubs turned me down, but in the end, I had to choose between Spurs, Everton, Wolves, and Celtic. Tottenham gave me the best feeling. I felt incredibly welcome there, which is especially important at a young age.”
Parrott – who is looking for a club like Everton – went on to score 17 goals in 15 appearances for the Tottenham U18 side, before netting nine in nine U19 outings and five goals in 14 games for the U21s, form which earned him four senior appearances at Spurs.

However, the man from Dublin never truly got a run in the side due to the presence of Harry Kane, before finding success in the Netherlands with Excelsior and then AZ Alkmaar.
History with Everton could make Troy Parrott more open to a Hill Dickinson Stadium move
If Everton make an approach for Parrott this summer, the fact he previously spent time at the club and had an offer on the table from the Toffees could potentially make him look favourably on a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The other clubs he mentioned, such as Wolves, will not be in a position to secure his signature this summer as they prepare for the Championship, while Spurs already have a number of strikers like Dominic Solanke, Richarlison and Mathys Tel.
Celtic arguably won’t be able to afford a deal either, with a reported price tag in the region of £25m to £30m.
