As Ange Postecoglou awaits Daniel Levy’s decision on his future, two Tottenham stars have now thrown their weight behind the Australian, making it clear that he deserves to stay at the club after delivering the Europa League trophy.
As one would expect when a club win their first trophy in 17 years, the mood around the Tottenham fan base about Postecoglou has shifted, with the Australian going from a much-derided figure to a hero.
Daniel Levy’s decision on Postecoglou’s future has thus got even more difficult, with the Spurs chairman knowing that any decision to get rid of the 59-year-old will not be popular with the club’s fan base.
Levy is not expected to make a call on the Tottenham managerial position immediately as the Spurs supremo assesses his options.
Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray want Ange Postecoglou to stay
However, the one thing working in the Tottenham boss’s favour is that he still has the support of his players.
Immediately after the club’s Europa League success, James Maddison threw his weight behind Postecoglou, and two of his younger teammates have now joined in.
Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray have now both expressed a desire to see the 59-year-old continue building on the foundation he has laid at the club.

When asked if Postecoglou deserves to stay, Bergvall told Sky Sports (as relayed by Football.London): “A hundred per cent [he should stay], I think he’s done a great job. It’s not been easy for any of us, especially because of all the injuries, but as he said, he always wins things in his second year and that’s true.”
When the same question was put to Archie Gray, he responded: “Yes, definitely. It’s been a great season this year and it’s been a roller coaster of a season as well, not just at the end. We’ve obviously had some really tough times and we stuck together.
“He’s big on things like family and I think the main thing that helped us get to the final and win the final is our morals of what we’re like as a team. Like I said, family is our main thing. We believe in each other and it’s like brothers going out there on the pitch in the final and we just fought for each other.”
Ange Postecoglou is adamant that he is the right man for Tottenham
Some might have expected that the Australian himself might resign after winning the Europa League, given how poor Tottenham have been in the Premier League this season and the kind of ridicule he has been subject to by the media.
However, not only has he not done that but Postecoglou has also insisted that he is the man to get Tottenham competing for trophies regularly.
