Tottenham are not interested in a move for Mason Greenwood this summer, according to reporter Alasdair Gold, amid recent links with a transfer for the Olympique Marseille forward.

The 24-year-old featured under current Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi at the club earlier last season, before the manager parted ways in search of a new challenge.

At that time, the Italian head coach had come under fire for comments he made about Greenwood, who had charges against him that were dropped in 2023.

Upon his arrival in North London, De Zerbi was quizzed over his previous comments, while the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust raised concerns over them as a serious topic.

In the end, the Tottenham head coach apologised, stating that he didn't wish to "downplay the issue of violence against women or violence against anyone more broadly".

Despite those clear comments, links have emerged surrounding the Lilywhites and a deal to sign Greenwood this summer.

Mason Greenwood Transfer Truth

Recent reports stated that Tottenham were in for a move to land Greenwood, a switch that would reunite the forward with De Zerbi after their time working together at Marseille.

The 24-year-old featured 32 times under the head coach, scoring 22 goals and providing eight assists, before the manager left the club and eventually took over in North London.

With a deal that runs until 2029 at Marseille, links emerged over a controversial return to England with Tottenham, but it's a transfer rumour that doesn't appear to have any backing behind it.

Tottenham reporter Alasdair Gold claimed that the transfer links were "utterly absurd", not least because of the criticism of De Zerbi early on because of his past comments on Greenwood, before his subsequent apology.

He adds that there is "no interest" in signing the former Manchester United player, as work continues in the background to sign other forward options.

Who Could Tottenham Sign Up Front?

With the links to Greenwood shut down, it's worth looking at the players Tottenham really are considering in the summer transfer window.

Interest has been revived in Savinho this summer, after Spurs failed to land the Manchester City star last year. Talks are ongoing over a potential deal, with the forward open to making the switch to North London.

West Ham star Crysencio Summerville has also been linked this summer, though a move to Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain seems more likely.

As it stands, focus is likely to switch to the midfield, before accelerating for a forward, as the key area of improvement next up for De Zerbi.
