Tottenham have appointed a high-ranking official from North London rivals Arsenal.

Tottenham were beaten to several signings by Arsenal during the summer transfer window.

Eberechi Eze was swiped from Tottenham’s noses by Arsenal earlier in the summer, when Spurs looked to have had a deal agreed.

Arsenal also hijacked Tottenham’s move for Piero Hincapie, as the Ecuadorian moved from Bayer Leverkusen.

Tottenham have now made a move of their own, luring a boardroom figure from the Emirates to take up a position behind the scenes.

Vinai Venkatesham plunders Arsenal for new Chief Marketing Officer

Tottenham have announced the arrival of a new Chief Marketing Officer.

Adam Gardiner will begin his position at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the new year, having been recruited from North London rivals Arsenal.

Spurs CEO Vinai Venkatesham announced the appointment of Gardiner, who spent five years at the Gunners, via Tottenham’s official website on 9 September.

Venkatesham said: “I’m delighted that Adam will be joining us as Chief Marketing Officer. This role is critical to our plans to strengthen our connection with our supporters, and we look forward to Adam joining our Executive Team in due course.”

Gardiner had several years in senior roles at Nike before transitioning to his job at Arsenal, and added how excited he was to start at Spurs.

He said: “It’s an incredibly exciting time for the club. Tottenham Hotspur has a rich history and strong values, and there’s a huge opportunity ahead.

“I’m honoured to be appointed and look forward to working with a talented team to make Spurs supporters proud.”

This will be seen as a bit of a coup for Spurs, who are experiencing a reshuffling behind the scenes.

More background changes for Tottenham after Daniel Levy exit

The appointment of Gardiner is another change behind the scenes for Tottenham.

Daniel Levy shockingly departed the club last week, having been Executive Chairman since 2001.

The departure of Levy has sparked discussions of a possible takeover of the North London club.

Amanda Staveley has been linked with the purchase of Spurs alongside her US-backed consortium, PCP International Finance.

Staveley was a key figure to the Saudi/PIF takeover of Newcastle United in 2021.

ENIC have insisted they do not want to sell, but the speculation remains, and the right bid could tempt them.
