Wayne Rooney believes that Thomas Frank’s future at Tottenham Hotspur looks rather ominous, and the Danish head coach will be fully aware of that.

Frank looked ‘very tired’ after the defeat as his team were booed by supporters at half-time and full-time in North London.

The former Premier League striker says he feels sorry for the Spurs boss, but believes that once the fans have spoken, only one outcome awaits.

When asked about Frank’s future, Rooney told BBC Match of the Day: “I saw Thomas Frank at the end of the game, and I felt for him. I’ve been in that position; it’s not a nice place to be, it’s a lonely place sometimes.

“Especially as he will feel that a change is coming, and I think the Tottenham fans have spoken, we’ve seen it before from the Tottenham fans.

“They’re not happy with what’s going on. Unfortunately, when that happens, it looks like he will lose his job.”

The Lilywhites face a quick turnaround as they host Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Right now, it’s unclear whether a change will happen, but all signs seem to point towards an interim boss being in charge.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Frank’s job at Spurs is far from safe, with internal talks taking place over the 52-year-old’s future.

Issuing an update on Frank’s future, Romano told his YouTube channel: “Thomas Frank is fighting to keep his job at Tottenham, but the club will decide very soon.

“Internal talks are taking place, and it’s going to be a crucial moment for the future of Thomas Frank at Tottenham.

“Then there is Champions League football. So let’s see with the timing what Tottenham decide to do. But the situation of Thomas Frank is in danger. So let’s see what’s going to happen. He’s not safe in this moment at Tottenham. His job at Tottenham is not safe.”
