The future of Lucas Bergvall remains up in the air this summer, with Nottingham Forest keen to land the Tottenham midfielder.
Forest need a new central midfielder to replace Elliot Anderson, who joined Manchester City during the World Cup in a deal worth £116 million.
The Reds have signed Xaver Schlager as a midfield option, but it does feel as though a stellar recruit will be signed during the summer window as a proper replacement for Anderson.
Now, with Tottenham touring Australia and New Zealand, Bergvall has made the call to inform Spurs of his desires this summer.
Lucas Bergvall tells Tottenham his future plans
The 20-year-old star has only recently returned to pre-season training after helping Sweden reach the last-32 at the World Cup before losing to France.
Which of our four strikers would you be inclined to move on if we sign Folarin Balogun or another striker this summer?
Bergvall has been pretty consistent in the Tottenham team over the last two years, helping the team win the Europa League during 2024/25.
However, with Tottenham signing Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes this summer, he recognises that he won’t be the first choice in North London for much longer.
MORE FOREST STORIES
The Guardian now claims that Bergvall has officially informed Tottenham that he wants to leave, placing emphasis on his desire to sign for Forest.
This is positive news for Forest, and now it will be up to the clubs to try and thrash out a deal that suits all parties, allowing Bergvall to get his wish.
Forest might have to play the waiting game with Bergvall
There have been some reports that suggest Bergvall is valued at £65 million and ultimately, if that is the case, Forest might choose to shop elsewhere.
However, Bergvall’s desire to leave could force Tottenham’s hand, and as a result, it’s unlikely that Roberto Di Zerbi will want an unhappy player around his squad.
The Italian head coach is relaxed about the future of Bergvall and rates him highly as a player.
If Forest sign Ernest Poku which of our current wingers would you offload first?
However, if the midfielder wants to move to Forest and has informed Tottenham of such a desire, it does feel as though this one might go through.
This one is unlikely to be imminent and perhaps Forest will have to decide whether they’re willing to be patient or move on and try to secure another stellar midfielder this summer.
