Gary Neville believes that Tottenham Hotspur should now be more worried than Nottingham Forest and West Ham in the Premier League’s fight for survival.

Forest were beaten in the seventh minute of stoppage time against Liverpool on Sunday, with Spurs losing 4-1 in the North London derby to title-chasing Arsenal.

Vitor Pereira has got a response out of his team in less than a week, however. Forest thrashed Fenerbahce 3-0 in Istanbul, and the performance was vastly improved against Liverpool.

Forest have to get points on the board quickly to pull clear of the relegation zone, and with West Ham picking up points, Pereira knows he has a job on his hands.

What did Gary Neville say about the Premier League relegation fight

With 11 matches of the season remaining, it’s vital that points are picked up by Forest, and Neville is of the opinion that Tottenham should be more concerned.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville explained that although the Londoners flirted with the drop last year, they’re in far greater danger this time around.

He said: “Tottenham are in trouble. Last season, they skirted with it a little bit, relegation. But they were always sort of clear of it. You never really felt they were going to go down.

“This season, they’ve got some real work to do, and they better do it quickly, by the way, because I watch West Ham and I watch Nottingham Forest and they’ve got something about them that you think they’re going to pick up points.

“So it’s not going to be a case of Tottenham can just sit there and think that this is just going to happen, they’re going to have to work hard to get out of this mess.

“It’s unthinkable. You can’t think this amazing, great football club…but on the football side of it, they’ve underdelivered for many years. It would be the shock of the century, wouldn’t it?”

Forest have to pick up points quickly

The Reds face Brighton and Manchester City away from home with Forest then due to play Fulham at the City Ground in a game that feels like a must-win opportunity.

The worry is that the Reds haven’t won regular games all season, and having already been beaten by the three teams they have to play next during this campaign, the chances of success look slim.

Right now, it feels as though Forest are looking at other teams being slightly worse than them for the remainder of this season and that is a real concern.

Neville is right to be worried about Tottenham, but ultimately, they have much better firepower than the Reds, and it’s impossible to think they will keep losing football matches.

They say falling in love with a loan player is a faux pas, and in 2022, Nottingham Forest fans were left heartbroken over Djed Spence.

After reviving the player’s career by taking him on loan for the 2021/22 campaign, Spence accepted the flirtatious approach from Tottenham and chose to sign for them permanently instead.

Spence will forever be adored by Forest fans for his efforts in the Garibaldi. He was a mainstay as the team won promotion to the Premier League, with supporters falling head over heels for the defender.

Last season under Ange Postecoglou, Spence finally got a chance to prove himself at Tottenham following loan spells with Genoa and Leeds, with the player’s form seeing him earn England recognition.

What Djed Spence did that will surely annoy Tottenham fans

It would appear as though a number of Tottenham fans aren’t having Spence as good enough to be part of their team, with a fallout with Thomas Frank taking place earlier this season.

Another storm could be brewing, too, after yesterday’s clash at Forest, which saw Spence risk the wrath of Tottenham fans once again when he was substituted.

Spence looked extremely disgruntled to be going out of the action with his body language suggesting he wasn’t impressed with Frank for making the decision.

With Forest fans rising to their feet to applaud their promotion hero, Spence clapped all four stands of the City Ground – with the exception of those housed in the away end.

It feels as though Spence perhaps is on a collision course with Frank, and it will be interesting to see how things pan out for the former loanee in the coming months.

Forest would relish Spence return

This might be a bit of a pipedream, but if Forest could land one player in the January transfer window, it would likely be another full-back to add to the ranks.

The beauty of Spence is that he can operate on both sides, and if he’s unhappy at Tottenham, he might be willing to return to Forest, considering the club are establishing in the Premier League with each passing year.

Right now, Spence appears to have a bee in his bonnet with Frank, and when that happens, the writing can start to appear on the wall.

Forest fans worship Spence for the work he did in the Championship and having earned his stripes with Tottenham in the Premier League, he’d be a welcome addition to the Reds’ ranks if a price was right.
