Arsenal returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on the road on Sunday.

The Gunners went into the game after a couple of frustrating stalemates against Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

They were 2-0 ahead against Wolves, only to squander the advantage. David Raya’s error contributed to Wolves’ dramatic equaliser.

Mikel Arteta’s side responded perfectly with a 4-1 rout of Spurs. Eberechi Eze was handed a surprise start in the number 10 position.

The Englishman bagged a sensational hat-trick in the reverse fixture and replicated the performance with another brace yesterday.

Eze opened the scoring for the Gunners before scoring a crucial third goal, which put the game beyond a struggling Spurs outfit.

Shortly after the north London derby win, Eze took to Instagram to express his delight.

Unsurprisingly, several Arsenal players commented on his post, including Gabriel Martinelli, who replied with ‘What a player’.

Aside from his stellar brace, Eze had 41 touches with 19 successful passes. The 27-year-old made five recoveries and won 100 percent of his aerial duels, which was quite a surprise.

He looked determined to prove a point in the north London derby again and did so in stellar fashion. Arsenal’s next league game will be against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

It remains to be seen whether Eze gets the nod in the starting XI or Arteta goes with Martin Odegaard in the attacking midfield role. The Norwegian made his injury comeback as a substitute yesterday and provided a late assist for Viktor Gyokeres’ second goal in stoppage time.

Arsenal’s victory over Spurs extends their lead over second-placed Manchester City to five points, but the Cityzens have a game in hand against Crystal Palace at home. Pep Guardiola’s side will be in league action against Leeds United on the road on Saturday evening.
