Tottenham Hotspur very briefly considered the return of Ange Postecoglou before eventually opting for Roberto De Zerbi.

The North London club spent the international break considering solutions to replace Igor Tudor, with Roberto De Zerbi being the chosen one.

👀 AGREE or DISAGREE: Ange Postecoglou deserved the chance to have SEASON THREE at Tottenham…

Spurs significantly pushed the boat out to land De Zerbi, and the Italian manager is now tasked with keeping the North London club in the Premier League.

But before bringing him in, the Lilywhites discussed the most sensational of returns to bring back Postecoglou as head coach.

Tottenham considered Ange Postecoglou’s return

Tottenham Hotspur’s board actually thought about reappointing Ange Postecoglou before quickly dismissing that idea, according to Alasdair Gold.

Just when you think it cannot get any crazier at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, they do something like consider bringing back the manager they sacked before the start of the season.

The Tottenham journalist suggests that the consideration was nothing serious, but at one stage, they did think about bringing him back.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Gold said: “I am told that they very briefly did consider a short-term return for Ange Postecoglou.

“When I talk briefly, I mean literally like ‘Yeah, no’. You know that really shouldn’t be made into anything more than that.”

🔮 How many points will Roberto De Zerbi take from his first five matches at Spurs?

Postecoglou recently spoke about his sacking at Tottenham, and it’s very hard to think that he would have accepted coming back.

But like with Mauricio Pochettino, Tottenham quickly moved on from the idea of bringing back a new coach and have got in De Zerbi.

Having thought about all three coaches, it’s clear that the North London club wanted a manager who was going to play more attacking football.

Postecoglou would have been such an interesting appointment considering he knows the squad, but it feels right that Spurs have moved on from him with De Zerbi’s arrival.
