A new report has shed light on whether a possible switch to Tottenham Hotspur may be on the cards for Mason Greenwood this summer.

While Tottenham are still not assured of their place in the Premier League next season, reports indicate that Roberto De Zerbi’s men have started planning for the summer window.

The limitations of the squad have been exposed over the last couple of campaigns, and the Lilywhites will be aware that they need significant reinforcements to give De Zerbi the tools he needs to get the club back to the top end of the table.

There have been some rumours doing the rounds on social media that the Italian coach could look to renew with Mason Greenwood.

Such a move would cause massive anger among the Tottenham fans, given the past allegations of sexual abuse against the former Man United man.

Tottenham are not considering a move for Mason Greenwood

TEAMtalk have now said that Greenwood is on his way out of Marseille this summer after falling out with head coach Habib Beye and members of the club’s hierarchy.

However, it is made clear that a return to the Premier League is ‘highly unlikely’ for the forward, who remains ‘off limits’ to English clubs.

A move to another European league is on the cards for Greenwood, with Juventus and Atletico Madrid both keeping tabs on his situation.

The outlet also makes it clear that Spurs have not considered making a move for the 24-year-old so far.

Why Spurs will not even briefly entertain the thought of signing Greenwood

It is worth remembering that multiple Tottenham fan groups expressed their opposition to De Zerbi’s appointment, citing the positive comments he had made about Greenwood’s character at Marseille.

The Spurs boss had to apologise to anyone he had offended and make it clear that he has always stood in opposition to all forms of violence, especially violence against women.

It will thus be a PR disaster for Tottenham if they even enter into talks with Marseille over a deal for Greenwood. Given how unpopular Spurs’ top brass is already among the fan base, they would not even consider making such an unpopular move.
