TBR Football understands that Rangers manager Russell Martin wants Mikey Moore and has held talks with Tottenham directly to convince them that Ibrox is the best place for him.

The 17-year-old has not been short of loan interest, with nearly half the Championship asking about signing him for next season.

Moore was left out of Spurs’ pre-season tour squad, which travelled to Asia to discuss a potential move away from North London.

A temporary switch to Ibrox now looks to be his most likely destination at this moment in time, with both the player and Tottenham open to the move to Rangers.

Sources: Tottenham happy with Rangers loan move for Mikey Moore

Tottenham Hotspur have appreciated what they have heard from Rangers and they are happy for Mikey Moore to join them on loan, sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.

Russell Martin held direct talks with the North London club about the move and has convinced them to loan him one of their brightest young talents.

Sheffield United were showing the strongest interest from the Championship; however, Rangers look set to win the race.

Tottenham recently appointed Stuart Lewis, who was Moore’s coach during his time in the U-18s, and he’s been tasked with integrating academy stars into the first team.

At Spurs, Moore faces strong competition for his place in the team, with the Lilywhites well stocked in the wide areas.

Tottenham are also exploring a move for Rodrygo, as TBR Football exclusively revealed, meaning his minutes would have been rather limited next season.

Meanwhile, the Scottish giants could have Champions League football on offer next season for the teenager if they defeat Panathinaikos.

Currently, they lead the Greek side 2-0 following their win in Glasgow last Tuesday and are due to travel for the second leg on Wednesday.

Mikey Moore compared to Rangers’ other winger options

Moore will likely be competing with Jeidi Gassama and Oscar Cortes for a spot on the left side of Rangers’ attack.

Gassama was signed from Sheffield Wednesday earlier this summer and Cortes was also added this window from RC Lens.

The Tottenham academy star can also play on the right side, where Rangers are also well stocked with Rabbi Matondo and Ross McCausland.

Rangers could also sign Jesurun Rak-Sakyi from Crystal Palace, with the winger keen on a move to Ibrox over his other options.

But assurances over minutes mean that as long as the youngster is performing, he will have no issue getting plenty of minutes north of the border.
