Bryan Gil has made an interesting admission after sealing a deadline day move from Tottenham Hotspur to Girona, and has reflected on what has been a difficult few months for him.
The Spaniard’s Spurs nightmare is finally over, with the winger leaving the Lilywhites after making just 11 Premier League appearances for the club across four years.
Gil sealed a permanent move to Girona in an £8.5m deal on Monday, returning to the Spanish side after impressing on loan there last term.
Gil sent a classy message, thanking Tottenham after completing the permanent switch to the Estadi Montilivi, admitting that he will always wish the best for the North London club in the future.

Spurs had been working to find a buyer for Gil all through the summer, and only succeeded at the very end.
According to reports, Fabio Paratici’s tired hard to convince Bologna to buy Gil, but in the end, the Serie A side decided against it.
The 24-year-old has now confessed that he had his heart set on a return to Girona and waited for the La Liga club to come calling all summer.

The Spain international said (via Mundo Deportivo and translated by Sport Witness): “Girona mean a lot to me, which is why I waited until the end of the transfer window to come here. The transfer window has been difficult and hectic, but the important thing is that I’m where I wanted to be.”
Gil eyeing 2026 World Cup after ‘difficult’ five months
Part of the reason Tottenham Hotspur struggled to find a buyer for the former Sevilla man is due to his knee injury, which has kept him out of action since March.
The winger admitted that it was not easy to be sidelined for so long, but added that he is now raring to go, having set his sights on being part of Spain’s squad for the World Cup next summer.
Gil said: “It’s been a tough five months. I’ve worked hard to get back as soon as possible and I’m fine. I’ll gradually get back into match rhythm, but my knee is perfect, and that’s the most important thing.
“Last season, I was left with the disappointment of not being able to say goodbye properly because of the injury, but football always gives second chances.”
When asked about his goals for the season, the former Tottenham man responded: “We want to have a good season and stay in La Liga. We have the squad to achieve that, and the results will come. Personally, I’d like to improve my goal, assist records and be part of the squad to play in the World Cup.”
