Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a major blow in their pursuit of an exciting La Liga attacker.

It has been widely reported that Spurs are expected to prioritise signing a wide-forward over a centre-forward in January.

Over the last week, it has come to light that the Lilywhites are turning their attention to a former Real Madrid man, who can play on either flank or as a number ten.

Tottenham have allegedly made Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo their top priority, with the Lilywhites thought to be willing to meet his £53m release clause.

It has been suggested that Real Sociedad would be willing to sell Kubo to Spurs in order to balance their books.

Some sources have even claimed over the last few days that the Japan international is in favour of a January switch to Tottenham.

However, the 24-year-old has completely shut down the rumours by making it clear that he will not be leaving Sociedad in the upcoming transfer window.
