Xavi Simons believes that Tottenham Hotspur’s defending against Burnley was ‘not acceptable’ and believes the team should have won.
Burnley have just three wins all season and came close to making it four against a truly woeful Spurs team at Turf Moor.
Speaking after the match, Simons told BBC Sport: “We wanted to win, and the two goals we conceded are not acceptable. It’s a shame, but we have to go on.

“In general, yes [we deserved to win], but you have to win here – even if the keeper has a great match. We have to score those goals and we have to win.”
Spurs can be bitterly frustrated at Axel Tunazebe’s goal in the first half, as Van de Ven and Romero were caught napping; meanwhile, Guglielmo Vicario’s positioning was questionable.
The Lilywhites have now conceded 31 goals in 23 Premier League matches this season and are quickly being pulled into a relegation battle.
Thomas Frank was also unhappy with Tottenham’s defending
During his press conference, Frank expressed his disappointment at having conceded such a poor goal in the first half.
The Danish head coach felt that the momentum swung in Burnley’s favour after they managed to equalise just before the break.
Frank told the media: “We gave nothing away in the first half, except a goal at the end of the first half, which we can never, ever, ever concede that goal. Because it just changed a little bit of the momentum going into halftime.”
