Tottenham have made several disappointing signings in recent history.

While Bryan Gil departed Tottenham for Girona over the summer, he is largely considered one of their worst seasons for all time.

Meanwhile, Tanguy Ndombele signed for a reported £63million, including add-ons, a club record at the time, but injuries and poor performances meant he failed to live up to expectations in North London.

Despite making several adventurous moves in the summer market, Spurs are set to see more letdowns over the coming months.

Yves Bissouma will leave Tottenham after ‘disappointing’ stay

Yves Bissouma has long been criticised for his attitude at Tottenham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

He started strong under Ange Postecoglou, but his behaviour off the pitch saw him fall down the pecking order last season. Meanwhile, he was omitted from Thomas Frank’s squad to face PSG in the UEFA Super Cup final for similar reasons.

Recently, Bissouma underwent surgery and is set to be sidelined for Tottenham for a while after he was injured while on international duty with Mali.

As a result, with his contract running out next summer, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Tottenham expert and Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham believes that Bissouma will leave Tottenham after failing to live up to his potential.

“For me, it doesn’t change much. He hasn’t made a matchday squad this season. He was all set to move to Galatasaray, and then the first signs of that injury led to that move falling through,” Wenham said.

“In January he’ll be able to agree a pre-contract to go for free to a non-UK club in the summer, and I suspect that’s what will happen. I don’t see a future for him at Tottenham, he’s been an incredibly frustrating signing overall.

“I’ve watched him many times completely dominate us in a Brighton shirt, and I’ve never seen that player for us. There were a handful of times under Postecoglou where it looked like we were getting some sort of return on him, but on the whole, it’s been incredibly disappointing singing.

“Multiple managers have had issues with his timekeeping and being let down by him. It’s time to part ways. I was disappointed that the move to Galatasaray fell through because I knew he wasn’t going to get any gametime, but it is what it is.”

Will Tottenham miss Yves Bissouma?

Bissouma was at his best during Spurs’ win over Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final.

He was magnetic on the pitch, gliding through the United press while distributing the ball to his attackers.

That was the Bissouma that fans had been seeking for years, but it is a version of him that only surfaces a couple of times every few months.

Tottenham will miss Bissouma, but more so will yearn for the player he could be, as opposed to what currently exists. As such, a departure this summer would be best for all involved.
