Description

Tottenham Hotspur have tabled a €26 million offer to Olympique Lyonnais for Malick Fofana, according to reports in France. The Lilywhites are admirers of the highly coveted 21-year-old, whose agents are expected in London on Wednesday, as manager Roberto De Zerbi looks to inject more dynamism into his attacking options. Despite securing European qualification, Lyon are reportedly facing severe immediate financial pressure before a mandatory review by the DNCG watchdog. The Ligue 1 giants are believed to require a major player sale before the June 30 accounting deadline to avoid severe institutional penalties, giving Spurs a distinct window of opportunity to bring a talented winger to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The North Londoners were plagued by injuries to several attacking players last season, when they only secured top-flight safety on the final day, and it is no surprise that they are looking to strengthen up front. While Everton and Liverpool have previously tracked Fofana, Spurs now look to be in a commanding position to bring the Belgian international to England.

Tottenham join race for Moroccan wonderkid after World Cup debut originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

Saturday afternoon saw the 2026 FIFA World Cup usher in one of the names for the future into the global game, Morocco's Ayyoub Buaddi, with the wonderkid playing a large part of his national team's draw against perennial powerhouse Brazil. Against A Seleção, Buaddi would put on quite the show, completing 60 passes, winning nine duels, and recording five interceptions as he stormed through the midfield, making it tough for his opponents to string a run of possession together.

It was just more than just a debut, as it showed that Bouaddi can perform on the global stage against some of the best players in the world, emboldening the interest that teams had in him following his stellar campaign with Lille in Ligue 1, winning out on 49 tackles and recording 33 interceptions last season for the French outfit.

All in all, the Moroccan wonderkid has been looked at and is being closely followed by the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, and Paris-Saint Germain, amongst others, but according to a recent report, yet another English club is pursuing the 18-year-old.

Bouaddi is being eyed by Spurs

As reported by Foot Mercato's Santi Aouna, Tottenham Hotspur are now in the running to sign Bouaddi away from Lille, with the aforementioned clubs still in hot pursuit.

The Lilywhites' interest comes in the midst of a squad rebuild for the English side, as they have seen a few key members of their midfield depart following the conclusion of last season, with Yves Bissouma being among those, as well as a critical overhaul of their backline. A move for the Moroccan midfielder could make sense to provide the depth that Bissouma leaves behind, as well as being a critical piece of the club moving forward, given his age.

It's important to note that while there lies all of this interest around Bouaddi, the wonderkid himself isn't focusing on it for the time being, being rather focused on his national team's performance at the World Cup.

De Zerbi praises Porro mentality amid new Spurs contract - Yahoo Sports
Description

Roberto De Zerbi has said Pedro Porro has the ‘mentality’ to help Tottenham Hotspur reach the highest level.

Porro has ended speculation around his future in North London by signing a new contract at Spurs. The Spain right-back had been linked with clubs in England and Europe, but has recommitted to the club on improved terms.

Spurs announced Porro’s new deal on Sunday, with De Zerbi delighted to get the agreement finalised.

He praised Porro’s desire to improve and backed the full-back to continue being a ‘very important player’ for Spurs in the seasons to come.

“Pedro is a very important player for us, who has consistently shown his ability to influence matches in both defensive and attacking situations,” he told the club’s official website.

“As well as his technical quality, I also love his mentality. Every day he wants to work, to learn and to improve, and these are the characteristics that help players reach the highest level.

“He understands football in a very intelligent way, and brings energy, intensity and personality to the team.

“This new contract is good news for everyone at the Club. We believe in Pedro, and I am excited to continue working with him and helping him achieve even more in the coming years.”

Description

Hi Hoddlers! It's Day 5 of the World Cup and Day 1 of Fitzie's Extended Work Vacation from the Hoddle. So you've got me instead.

Without dipping too deep into politics, there's been a lot of talk and digital ink spilled already about what an absolute s**tshow the planning and execution of this World Cup has been, and fair enough. Between FIFA taking every opportunity to milk football fans for their precious hard-earned dollars to half-empty stadiums to players, support staff, referees, and former Arsenal sexual predators being denied entry to host countries, everyone I think expected this World Cup to fall on its face. And at some level, it already has.

But I think what a lot of people forget is that Americans on the whole are decent people — kind, generous, accepting folk who just like to have a good time and are enormously welcoming to people from other cultures. That's evident from this Bluesky skeet which contains some stories about foreign fans coming to the USA for the World Cup and having a great experience.

I've seen so many heartwarming and awesome stories about Europeans and people from other nations coming here expecting to encounter hordes of arrogant people and instead finding awesome Americans and incredible food, and being blown away by the experience. It's made me feel a lot better, and is also a reminder that social media is not society, and that I need to log off once in a while and get out to actually talk to people now and then.

As an American, it's worth remembering that, whatever else is going on in the world that's outside of our control, we still have power to be kind and welcoming to people who are different from us, and those experiences go a long way towards establishing what kind of a country we want to be. FIFA sucks, a lot. But that doesn't mean we as a people have to as well.

Tottenham Hotspur Are In The Running For This Talented Defender: Good Choice For De Zerbi? - Yahoo Sports
Description

In a recent report, journalist Mark Brus stated that Tottenham Hotspur are in the running for Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez this summer. It has been mentioned that Spurs would have to rival Chelsea and Liverpool in the race to sign the Ecuadorian talent in this summer transfer period.

Ordonez’s Solid Campaign In Belgian Football

The 22-year-old enjoyed a solid campaign in the Jupiler Pro League after producing a run of impressive displays at the centre of Club Brugge’s defence. Ordonez scored four goals in 46 matches for the Belgian club last season across all fronts.

The Ecuadorian talent is currently one of the best centre-backs in the Jupiler Pro League. Therefore, it is no wonder that Spurs are eyeing a move to bring him to North London this off-season.

His current contract at Club Brugge will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Tottenham to sign him in this transfer window.

Will Ordonez Be A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur?

Ordonez loves a tackle and can read the danger well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. The Ecuadorian talent usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.

Standing at 1.88m, Ordonez is a strong presence in the air as well. However, it remains to be seen whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if Spurs manage to snap him up in this summer transfer window.

We can expect Ordonez to inject more bite and steel into Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi’s defence. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at the North London club in the coming seasons.

At 22, Ordonez has got the ceiling to be a world-class player in his position someday. He is primarily a centre-back but can also function as a right-back if needed. Furthermore, the South American sensation is capable of helping Spurs compete for a European spot in the Premier League over the next few years. Hence, he would be a good choice for Tottenham to pursue later this year as long as they can get him for a reasonable fee.

Tottenham Transfer News: Morgan Gibbs White Race Heats Up

Tottenham Hotspur’s long standing interest in Morgan Gibbs White appears ready to resurface, with Ekrem Konur for Sports Boom reporting that six major clubs are now monitoring the Nottingham Forest midfielder.

According to the report, “Morgan Gibbs-White came very close to Tottenham last summer.” That detail matters, because Spurs are not entering this race cold. They have already explored the player, admired the profile and understood the level of competition likely to follow.

Forest ultimately kept him, with Evangelos Marinakis convincing Gibbs White to stay and sign a new deal until June 2028. Yet, as Sports Boom notes, “this signature did not end the story. It only postponed it.”

Forest Contract Reality Creates Pressure

Nottingham Forest are in a strong position on paper. Gibbs White has two years left on his contract, he is central to their team and Marinakis is expected to resist another sale.

But the situation is more complicated than that.

The article states, “Keeping a player whose contract will expire in two years means nothing more than losing value.” That is the key pressure point. Forest can hold firm, but if no renewal follows, this summer may become the moment when their leverage is at its strongest.

Photo IMAGO

Gibbs White’s numbers make that decision even more difficult. Sports Boom reports he registered “15 goals and 4 assists in 37 Premier League matches last season,” a return that underlines why so many clubs are circling.

Six Clubs Add Transfer Tension

The list of interested clubs is significant. Sports Boom claims Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are all monitoring the player.

Villa are described as particularly active, with Unai Emery keen to strengthen a Champions League squad. Chelsea and Manchester United both need midfield productivity, while Arsenal are said to view Gibbs White as an alternative to Morgan Rogers.

For Tottenham, the situation feels more personal. As the report says, “Spurs missed this transfer once. They will not want to make the same mistake again.”

That line captures the mood around the club. Roberto De Zerbi’s Spurs need players who can receive under pressure, carry possession and create in tight spaces. Gibbs White fits that requirement. His energy, final third output and Premier League experience would make him an attractive addition.

Tottenham Must Act With Precision

The absence of a formal bid is important. Sports Boom states, “no formal bids have been submitted to Nottingham Forest at this stage.” That means this remains a monitoring phase, not yet an active negotiation.

However, waiting too long could be dangerous. PSG’s involvement gives this file an international edge, while interest from Arsenal and Manchester United could quickly inflate the price.

For Spurs, the appeal is clear. Gibbs White is not a speculative signing. He knows the league, has proven end product and offers the type of attacking midfield dynamism De Zerbi values. If Tottenham believe he is the right fit, they may need to move decisively before the race becomes too crowded.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

From a Tottenham perspective, this feels like exactly the type of transfer Spurs should be pushing hard to complete.

Roberto De Zerbi needs players who can think quickly, play through pressure and add genuine output in the final third. Morgan Gibbs White ticks those boxes. He is creative, aggressive, technically sharp and already proven in the Premier League. There would be no long adaptation period, no major question over physicality and no uncertainty about whether he can handle English football.

The exciting part is how he might look in a De Zerbi system. Spurs have needed more invention between the lines, especially in games where opponents sit deep and force them to break down compact blocks. Gibbs White has the courage to take the ball in awkward areas and the quality to make something happen.

There is also a sense of unfinished business here. Tottenham came close once, missed out and watched his value rise again. That cannot happen twice.

Forest will not make this easy, and nor should they. But if Spurs want to build a side with personality, intensity and Premier League ready quality, Gibbs White feels like a very sensible target.

Pedro Porro extension comes with a red flag Tottenham can't ignore

Pedro Porro extension comes with a red flag Tottenham can't ignore - Yahoo Sports
Description

Roberto De Zerbi has a lot of power at Tottenham Hotspur both as stipulated in the contract that brought him to the sinking ship and implicitly held further after he saved Spurs from a seemingly doomed trip to the EFL Championship.

His most controversial order of business may be the dogged pursuit of his former Brighton star center back Jan Paul van Hecke, but among his least was the verve to get right back Pedro Porro extended right this second. Porro had a rough patch in the 2025/26 Premier League season when everything was going south for the Lilywhites, but when De Zerbi took over, Porro was crucial and back to being one of the best right backs in the English top flight.

It did not take long for Tottenham to make Porro untouchable. After his incredible display on Matchday 38 in the relegation sparing win over Everton, Porro was on a one way ticket to a new contract. Real Madrid and Manchester City resumed their interest in signing Porro, but Spurs told them to step off.

Pedro Porro is not a flawless player

Now, per Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur officially have Pedro Porro locked down. The 26 year old right back has signed a contract extension through the 2030/31 Premier League season with an additional team option for 2031/32. So Porro will be locked in at the club for five more years until he turns 31 with, obviously, a wage increase to boot.

While Porro is one of the better right backs in the Premier League and the only real right back in the squad with Djed Spence only playing on the left these days, there is one red flag Tottenham need to keep in mind with a five year extension that will keep Porro past his prime.

Not everyone was terrible when Spurs were sliding into relegation, and Tottenham fans have to be wary of the players who showed poor character and let the standard slip. On some level, it was not their fault because when things fall apart and seem hopeless under a manager who basically plays to lose, it is hard not to fall into that trap. At the same time, players like Mathys Tel, Archie Gray, and even Richarlison never quit or gave up hope or yelled at the fans or other players, but Porro was in that group that was negative.

Porro is also not the best player in terms of his technique or reading of the game. His best asset is the effort, and when he does not show effort, he is a liability, which was the case for several months. And that is something Tottenham fans also have to worry about, because as he nears 30 as a right back and the wear and tear sets in, he is not going to be as effective of a player: the inaccurate crosses, individual errors in one on one defense, and mental lapses are going to be magnified more.

It was important for Tottenham to keep Porro and avoid losing their only option at right back, a crucial starter who is arguably top five in his position in the league. However, Tottenham need to remember that he is not a flawless player and on a five year deal, there are serious long term concerns, and Spurs, as a club, need to continue to push Porro to be better in the future.

Tottenham Hotspur Are Facing Stiff Competition For This Talented Defender: One For The Future? - Yahoo Sports
Description

In a recent report, Portal do Gremista stated that Tottenham Hotspur are facing stiff competition for Gremio defender Viery. It has been mentioned that Spurs would have to rival Sunderland, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Hove Albion, Benfica and Fiorentina in the race to land the Brazilian centre-back in this summer transfer window.

Viery’s Impressive Rise In Brazilian Football

The 21-year-old came through the youth ranks of Gremio and did well to establish himself as an important member of their senior team. Viery participated in 27 matches for the Brazilian club last season, scoring two goals and securing one assist across all fronts.

The Brazilian talent is currently among the best young centre-backs in his homeland. Therefore, Spurs would do well to lure him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this off-season.

His current contract at Gremio will run out at the end of 2029, which could make it tough for Tottenham to land him on a cut-price deal in this transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur Are Facing Stiff Competition For Viery: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Viery is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and can even play his way out from inside his half.

Standing at 1.87m, the Brazilian sensation is a strong presence in the air as well. Viery is primarily a centre-back but can also serve as a left-back if asked to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can adapt to the high intensity of the Premier League if Spurs manage to snap him up later this year.

We can expect Viery to enhance the quality of Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi’s defence in the long run. He is already good enough to serve as a good rotational piece in the North London club’s squad.

At 21, the future looks quite promising for Viery as long as he continues to improve with each season. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future, so Spurs should focus on securing his services this summer. However, De Zerbi has to be patient with his development before he can get the best out of the gifted centre-back.

Tottenham closing in on £60m deal for Man City forward Savinho

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are making progress in their pursuit of Manchester City winger Savinho.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham are closing in on a deal for the versatile winger, with discussions progressing on a deal that could be worth around £60 million.

Spurs have been tracking the Brazilian for some time and are now working to reach an agreement with City.

Negotiations are ongoing, with both clubs discussing the structure of the transfer fee, including performance-related bonuses and add-ons.

Savinho has been on Tottenham’s radar for more than a year.

The talented winger was interested in making the move to Spurs during the January transfer window, but City decided against selling him at the time.

The Cityzens tried to ward off Tottenham by demanding more than £70m, even though they were also working on transfer plans of their own.

Tottenham didn’t budge at the time, but the North Londoners have since revived their interest.

The 22-year-old has struggled to adapt to the pace of the Premier League but is still considered an exciting young attacker.

Bringing him in would strengthen Roberto De Zerbi’s side in two positions, with Savinho capable of playing on either flank.

City could be open to parting ways with Savinho this summer for the right price, and both parties look to be getting closer to a £60m agreement.

If Tottenham complete the transfer, Savinho would be the club’s third signing of the summer transfer window.

After avoiding relegation by the skin of their teeth, Tottenham have moved quickly to add a couple of experienced players to the squad.

Spurs have already announced the additions of defenders Marcos Senesi and Andrew Robertson on free transfers. They’re still looking to bolster their defensive options, but strengthening the attack seems to be the focus at the moment.

Savinho’s modest four goals and three assists in 36 games may not seem convincing, but a change of environment might be what he needs to bring out his explosive talent.

Description

good morning hoddlers and welcome after one of the more chaotic French Opens we’ve seen in years.

On the men’s side, Alexander Zverev claimed his maiden Grand Slam title on his fourth attempt. He defeated the Italian (no, not that Italian) Flavio Cobolli in five sets on Sunday, in a match that will be less remembered for the tennis and more for the end of a strange fortnight.

After World No.1 Jannik Sinner and 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic were bounced out in the second and third rounds, respectively, the draw was wide open for someone to claim their first major. Zverev’s triumph will be the big takeaway from this tournament here, although it remains to be seen if he’ll be able to compete in a tournament when Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are both healthy.

The longer-lasting legacy of this, however, might be the breakout of rising Brazilian star Joao Fonseca. The 19-year-old came back from two sets down to defeat Djokovic, and then backed that up with a win over Casper Ruud.

The last couple of seasons has left tennis watchers asking who will be the player to insert themselves into the Sinner-Alcaraz rivalry. After this tournament, it looks like we might have our answer: Joao Fonseca.

Speaking of teen sensations, Mirra Andreeva (19) became the youngest woman to win the French Open since Monica Seles in 1992.

Andreeva has had very high expectations for years. She rocketed up to the top five in the world last year after winning two WTA 1000 tournaments.

Andreeva locked in after a shaky second-round match and pretty much coasted the rest of the way, defeating qualifier Maja Chwalinska in the final. Again, a final that won’t be remembered so much for the tennis and more for this being Andreeva’s major breakthrough.

Like the men’s side we also come out of this asking another big question: Just how many of these tournaments will Andreeva win during her career?
