Description

Tottenham Hotspur forward Manor Solomon will undergo a medical today ahead of joining West Ham United, according to Ben Jacobs.

The Spurs attacker is out of favour at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club and will now be joining the Hammers in the Championship.

West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo is bringing a quality player to the London Stadium club as he eyes an immediate return to the Premier League.

Solomon is joining the club for an initial £5 million, with £2m to be paid in add-ons if the Hammers secure promotion.

Tottenham also included a ten per cent sell-on clause in the deal.

The 27-year-old will fancy his chances of hitting the ground running in the Championship after a successful loan spell with Leeds United in the division back in 2024-25.

Solomon bagged ten goals and 12 assists in 39 Championship games for the Elland Road club and West Ham will hope for a similar return.

The Hammers started life after relegation with a 3-1 victory over Portsmouth in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Saturday.

The first of their 46 league games for the season takes place at Turf Moor against Burnley on Sunday (August 16).

Solomon will hope to hit the ground running and eventually help the Hammers secure promotion and finally prove himself in the English top-flight.

Three Tottenham Hotspur players who face an uncertain future before the end of the transfer window - Yahoo Sports
Description

Tottenham Hotspur still have plenty of work to do in the summer transfer window.

Spurs have spent £237million to sign Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, and Jan Paul van Hecke.

They have also drafted in Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka on free transfers.

But Roberto De Zerbi is desperate to add some more attacking reinforcement to his squad before the close of the window.

However, there are several players who could be heading for the exit door at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the next few weeks.

Here, Tottenham News has identified three players who are facing an uncertain future over the next few weeks.

Richarlison

Brazil forward Richarlison finds himself in a bit of a state of flux at Tottenham right now.

Spurs had a dreadful 2025/26 campaign, but Richarlison was one of the few who came out with some credit.

There is a general feeling, though, that in an ideal world Spurs would sign a new striker this season, with a need to upgrade on Richarlison and Dominic Solanke.

Indeed, there have been rumblings that Richarlison himself would seek pastures new this window.

If Tottenham can add new bodies in the forward area, then Richarlison might find himself on the move.

Three questions Tottenham Hotspur supporters still have this transfer window Guglielmo Vicario

It has inevitable all summer that Guglielmo Vicario will be on his way out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Italian missed the final seven games of last season through injury, and Antonin Kinsky is expected to start the campaign as first choice.

Juventus and Napoli have been tipped with a move throughout the window, and a return to Serie A feels very much on the cards.

Vicario enjoyed a decent start to his Tottenham career, but his progress has stalled and it feels very much like he will be allowed to move if a decent offer comes in.

Djed Spence

Djed Spence is another who finds himself in a bit of a weird situation.

In an ideal world, his versatility to play at both right and left-back means he is an ideal squad player.

But Spence saw his stock rise with an excellent World Cup as England reached the semi-finals.

As such, if he is not guaranteed to be a starter under De Zerbi then he might get itchy feet about his future.

It feels like more of a "watch this space" than any real certainty when it comes to Spence, but it would not be the biggest shock if he were to move on.

Tottenham Hotspur Are In Discussions To Land This Manchester City Playmaker: Good Choice For De Zerbi? - Yahoo Sports
Description

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, journalist Pete O'Rourke claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are in discussions to land Manchester City winger Savinho this summer. O'Rourke said,

"I think it's getting there. It's been ongoing for a number of weeks and months now.

"We know Tottenham's interest is there, they're long-term admirers of Savinho and Roberto De Zerbi has admitted they are looking to make further attacking signings in this window if possible.

"Savinho is a top target for them. Talks have been ongoing with Manchester City. The expectation is that this deal probably will get done before the close of the window with Savinho making the move to North London."

Savinho's Lack Of Game Time Last Season

Savinho struggled to earn a regular starting spot for the Mancunian club in the previous campaign but managed to put in a few impressive displays for them in the Premier League. The 22-year-old banged in four goals and picked up three assists in 36 appearances for Man City last season across all fronts.

The Brazilian talent is currently among the best young wide players in the Premier League. Hence, it is no wonder that Spurs are trying to get a deal done for him this summer.

Savinho is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2031, which could make it tough for Tottenham to sign him on a cut-price deal this off-season.

Will Savinho Be A Good Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Roberto De Zerbi?

Savinho has the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker out on the flanks. He is a good dribbler with the ball and can engineer some clear-cut chances for his teammates to score.

The Brazilian talent can shoot the ball with power from long range and can contribute by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team. Savinho can play in any position across the frontline and is already quite familiar with the Premier League. Hence, he won't take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham.

Savinho would add more pace and goals to Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi's frontline. He is capable of challenging for a regular first-team place at the North London club.

At 22, Savinho has a bright future ahead of him and would be a good choice for Tottenham to pursue in the long run. Therefore, De Zerbi should focus on going all out to acquire his services this month.

Ashley Phillips' Tottenham Hotspur exit on hold - here's why

Ashley Phillips' Tottenham Hotspur exit on hold - here's why - Yahoo Sports
Description

Ashley Phillips will have to wait to complete his move from Tottenham Hotspur to Middlesbrough.

The centre-back looks certain to depart the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, though it may not be as imminent as first though.

Spurs have spent £237million on deals to sign Sandro Tonali, Jan Paul van Hecke, and Mateus Fernandes.

However, they have recouped cash from the sales of Luka Vuskovic, Will Lankshear, and Alfie Devine.

Phillips could still yet seal his exit to raise further cash, with Roberto De Zerbi still keen to add to his squad.

But a new development has cast doubt on whether his move to Middlesbrough will get signed off.

What has happened with Ashley Phillips' Tottenham exit?

Spurs signed Phillips for a bargain £2million fee from Blackburn Rovers in 2023, but he has failed to make a first-team breakthrough.

Indeed, he has spent the past two seasons on loan at Stoke City, and had a temporary spell with Plymouth Argyle prior to that.

TeesideLive has now reported that Middlesbrough's move has "hit a snag" and is now on pause.

Boro had agreed a £7m deal that could eventually rise to £20m, while there were sell-on and matching rights clauses included.

Phillips had even travelled to Boro to complete the formalities of his move.

The report adds that is not yet clear what has caused the hold up, and the deal is said to be "paused" rather than off as things stand.

Tottenham ready to bank serious profit as Ashley Phillips transfer advances What do Tottenham still need in the transfer window?

Spurs have done some smart work recouping the cash they have spent this summer, and Phillips could still yet bring in more money.

However, there is still an obvious need to bring in reinforcement despite six new bodies arriving already.

The most obvious need for De Zerbi is in the final third, with attention needed on the left flank especially.

A new striker might also be on his wish list, especially with uncertainty over the future of Richarlison.

There is still time to get business done, but De Zerbi will want to see some movement before the start of the new Premier League season.

3 midfielders Tottenham need to sell before Lucas Bergvall

3 midfielders Tottenham need to sell before Lucas Bergvall - Yahoo Sports
Description

Tottenham Hotspur 20 year old gem center midfielder Lucas Bergvall submitted a transfer request during the 2026 World Cup with Sweden after seeing how highly interested Roberto De Zerbi was in spending big on two new starters in Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali.

But while Spurs secured deals for both Premier League starters, Bergvall remains in the squad. He has not backed down from his transfer request and has Nottingham Forest on his heels as an Elliot Anderson replacement, but De Zerbi and Tottenham are trying to convince him to stay and that he will get enough minutes.

Here are three midfielders Tottenham are better off selling first to clear space before giving up on Bergvall.

Pape Matar Sarr

Pape Matar Sarr is first and second on the list, because he's the only center midfielder Roberto De Zerbi has not shown any affinity to. And it makes sense, he lacks the traits on the ball that De Zerbi looks for in a midfielder in terms of executing his possession based playing style. Sarr is a bit overhated and is a decent box to box midfielder, but he definitely fits a mid table club better than Spurs. Tottenham will hope that one of those mid level Premier League clubs comes calling soon about the Senegal international.

Conor Gallagher

De Zerbi really likes Conor Gallagher and was able to get him to be an asset to the team during the relegation battle. With Xavi Simons recovering from a torn ACL and James Maddison still working his way back to full fitness after an ACL tear in 2025, Gallagher is going to get a lot of minutes to start the season as a No. 10. That makes him a less appealing player to sell in the short term, but it is better to lose Gallagher than to lose Lucas Bergvall, who has more long term upside and is probably the better No. 8 right now anyway.

Rodrigo Bentancur

Out of these three midfielders, Rodrigo Bentancur has the most to give to Tottenham Hotspur right now and was a crucial player in Spurs surviving relegation. The problem is that he is redundant. Sandro Tonali and Archie Gray are both significantly better than Bentancur in their roles, and Tottenham have three superior deep lying midfielders and will already have a tough time giving Gray minutes with how much Mateus Fernandes and Tonali are going to dominate starts. Benta is the fourth option, in truth, whereas Bergvall brings something more unique as a box to box player and athlete with much more long term upside.

Tottenham are already seeing the biggest difference between Sandro Tonali and Rodrigo Bentancur

Tottenham are already seeing the biggest difference between Sandro Tonali and Rodrigo Bentancur - Yahoo Sports
Description

Tottenham Hotspur took down Chelsea 2-1 in a preseason matchup that did not feel at all like a friendly, with even Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi pointedly saying that there is nothing friendly about this kind of a rivalry game.

And it was Sandro Tonali who pulled Spurs ahead initially with a deflected goal from just outside the box. Yes, the defelction played a big role in the goal, but Tonali shooting and scoring in that position is a microcosm of exactly what De Zerbi pressed so hard to get Johan Lange and Vinai Venkatesham to spend 100 million pounds on the Italian international so that Spurs would have him - and not Arsenal or Manchester City.

Rodrigo Bentancur is one of De Zerbi's personal favorites and is highly unlikely to move, given the crucial role he played under the manager in keeping Spurs up at the end of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Sandro Tonali offers Spurs huge promise

But for much of the 2025/26 campaign, Bentancur was a liability, and though he improved at the very end under the new manager, Spurs fans were appalled by how cowardly and sideways he was on the ball, which, well, was nothing new, seeing as how that was the key reason why Juventus did not buy into him in the first place.

Sandro Tonali is already showing exactly why he is worth triple Bentancur is on the open market, and that's because he has the athleticism and the mentality to play forward. In that same position, Bentancur would have taken on the shot maybe twice out of one hundred attempts, and numerous times throughout the game against Chelsea, Tonali drove the ball forward or made the progressive pass when, in those same situations, we saw Rodrigo Bentancur go the passive route time after time.

Even against the big teams, Tonali is not afraid to take the fight to the opponent, and while Bentancur is also a former Serie A champion, it's obvious the role Tonali played in lifting AC Milan in 2021/22 is a lot more impressive than Bentancur's work in the seasons he was a role player for the Bianconeri in their Scudetto triumphs at the beginning of his career.

Tottenham Hotspur have a lot invested in Tonali in terms of wages and transfer fee, and so there are going to be high expectations for him. But there are already glimpses that in terms of his quality and tactical improvement, he will be worth it for Spurs.

How to Watch Tottenham Hotspur vs. Sydney FC Live Stream: TV, Lineups, Preview - Yahoo Sports
Description

Tottenham Hotspur meet Sydney FC on Wednesday at Allianz Stadium, the third match of a preseason schedule in which Roberto De Zerbi's side has yet to lose.

Back-to-back 17th-place Premier League finishes have left De Zerbi's rebuild under a microscope, and the Sydney Super Cup hands his reshaped squad its first full house of the summer.

Spurs are two from two. They edged MK Dons 1-0 behind closed doors at Hotspur Way, then beat Auckland FC 2-0 at Eden Park on Sunday in front of 40,112, the largest crowd ever to watch a soccer match in New Zealand, according to Australian outlet Football360. Dane Scarlett struck in the 12th minute. Richarlison finished it off after the interval.

Sydney FC opened their own preparations with a 5-1 win over second-tier Bayswater City in the Australia Cup round of 32, a night headlined by a Tiago Quintal hat trick and three assists from 17-year-old winger Akol Akon.

Gates open at 6 p.m. local time, according to the Allianz Stadium event listing.

Match: Tottenham Hotspur vs. Sydney FC, Sydney Super Cup

Venue: Allianz Stadium, Sydney, Australia

Date: Wednesday, July 29

Kickoff, Australia: 7:45 p.m. AEST

Kickoff, United Kingdom: 10:45 a.m. BST

Kickoff, United States: 5:45 a.m. EDT / 2:45 a.m. PDT

Broadcast, Australia: Paramount+

Stream, United Kingdom and worldwide: SPURSPLAY, subscription required

Stream, United States: SPURSPLAY

Highlights land on SPURSPLAY shortly after full time and on Tottenham's YouTube channel a few hours later, per Spurs Web. No U.K. free-to-air broadcast is listed.

Tottenham and Sydney Players to Watch

Richarlison is the first name on the list. He came off the bench in Auckland and scored the second goal, and he is one of the few senior forwards De Zerbi brought south.

The other is Sandro Tonali, bought from Newcastle United for a reported £100 million in an overhaul that also delivered Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, according to beIN Sports. Tonali missed the Auckland trip while clearing a hamstring problem.

Rhyan Grant anchors the Sky Blues. The long-serving right back scored the goal that decided the 2020 Grand Final. Quintal is the other one to track. His hat trick against Bayswater made him the story of Sydney's preseason before Tottenham ever landed.

Spurs and Sydney FC on Opposite Trajectories

Tottenham escaped relegation on the final day of last season in the Premier League. A João Palhinha goal against Everton finished the job, leaving Spurs two points clear of West Ham United after a season that burned through three head coaches, according to Sky Sports.

Sydney FC finished fifth in the A-League Men and then ran all the way to the Grand Final, where Auckland FC won 1-0. Patrick Kisnorbo took the job in March and opened with seven matches unbeaten, according to Sports Mole.

The two clubs measure history on different scales. Tottenham date to 1882 and own eight FA Cups, the 1960-61 league and cup double and three Europa League titles. Sydney FC were founded in 2004 as the A-League's Sydney entry and have collected 34 trophies, more than any club in Australian soccer, according to the club's official history page.

James Maddison and Destiny Udogie both traveled and both remain doubtful, and De Zerbi has not committed to either, according to Spurs Web. Maddison lost most of last season to a torn ACL.

"We need to be better than the last couple of seasons," Maddison said, as quoted by beIN Sports.

Brentford weigh up move for Tottenham star Pape Matar Sarr

Brentford weigh up move for Tottenham star Pape Matar Sarr - Yahoo Sports
Description

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Papa Matar Sarr is attracting interest from Brentford, according to the Daily Mail.

Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi will struggle to give Sarr enough playing time following the arrival of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

Tottenham signed Sarr in 2021 before he joined the club a year later. He has been serviceable and was a 'standout' player under Thomas Frank.

He is capable of handling several midfield positions excellently.

Unfortunately, the Spurs star has blown hot and cold. He struggled to nail down a starting position upon the Italian tactician's arrival in the second half of the season.

The 23-year-old's sale would bolster Tottenham's coffers as the North London outfit look to reinforce other positions in the roster.

Brentford are eyeing Sarr to replace Jordan Henderson, who is expected to leave the London club soon.

While Sarr has offers from Turkey, he should be jumping at the chance to stay in the Premier League at a very competitive club with huge ambitions.

Tottenham must spend any Sarr windfall on getting a good defensive midfielder

If Tottenham do decide to cash in on Sarr, every penny generated from his departure should be reinvested into finding a natural number six.

They need someone who can bring physicality, defensive discipline and leadership to the midfield.

Spurs have plenty of technically gifted options in the engine room, with Archie Gray, Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison, Fernandes, Lucas Bergvall and Tonali.

However, they lack a true anchor following Joao Palhinha's return to Bayern Munich.

A midfielder who can protect the defence, win duels and provide balance would transform De Zerbi's side.

They need someone who can do the dirty work and allow their more attack-minded stars to thrive.

Replacing Sarr with the right profile should be a priority, as the midfield still needs a dominant presence to compete at the highest level.

Tottenham star ‘waiting’ for Barcelona

Description

Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero is continuing to knock back interest in his signature, in the hopes of Barcelona moving forward with an approach to bring him in.

This comes amid the understanding that the Argentine views a Camp Nou switch as something of a personal dream.

Stopper Romero is widely expected to bring a close to his stint on the books of Tottenham this summer, having long made known his desire for a new challenge.

Italian heavyweights Inter Milan recently positioned themselves at the front of the queue for his signature, after opening club-to-club talks with their Spurs counterparts.

Romero, however, is yet to give the green light to a move back to Serie A. And as alluded to above, this week, an insight into precisely why has surfaced online.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, citing SportItalia, who report that:

'The Argentine centre-back has not finished giving the okay to Inter Milan because he is waiting for one last move from Barcelona to get his services.'

Deco and the Blaugrana brass have for their part stayed in constant contact with Romero's entourage this summer, albeit with it having been made clear to the 28-year-old that he will only be considered a realistic signing in the case of a current member of Hansi Flick's defensive ranks moving on.
