Description

Bayern Munich and João Palhinha have parted ways for good. Loaned out to Tottenham Hotspur for the 2025/26 season, the Portuguese international has settled well in North London. Negotiations between Spurs and Bayern would decide whether Palhinha would make his stay in London permanent or be swooped up by Sporting CP.

Bossing the CDM role

Palhinha has found his preferred role in the Spurs system. Being played as a defensive midfielder he has taken to his duties like a fish to water. He’s made more tackles than Joshua Kimmich, Aleksander Pavlović and Leon Goretzka combined in the respective domestic leagues this season. Thriving in a role requiring him to do a lot of the defensive “dirty” work, Palhinha and Spurs are set to extend their partnership per Sky’s Florian Plettenberg (via @iMiaSanMia).

The midfielder has Spurs on his priority list per a report by Fabrizio Romano as captured by @iMiaSanMia. Sporting CP are closely monitoring the situation and offer a return to his home country should talks between Bayern and Spurs fail.

Advantage Bayern

With a competitor to Tottenham for Palhinha’s signature, Bayern can negotiate a better price for the 30 year-old. Some major signings are planned for the summer and funds from outgoing players will be crucial to close the gap against competition. As seen in the Anthony Gordon case, FC Barcelona edged out Bayern Munich by a margin of €10 million.

New signing could create another exciting Luka Vuskovic scenario for Tottenham

New signing could create another exciting Luka Vuskovic scenario for Tottenham - Yahoo Sports
Description

Young center back Luka Vuskovic is the most exciting player at the position and legitimately one of the biggest gems in world football, and Tottenham Hotspur can thank Hamburg for taking the Croatian sensation on loan last season and believing in him almost immediately. From the moment he started games in the Bundesliga, Vuskovic was turning heads and winning awards, affectionately known as "Air Vuskovic" by a Hamburg faithful that took him in as one of their own.

Though Vuskovic will be leaving Hamburg, as long as Tottenham do not royally screw things up, he will be ready to start from Day 1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the 2026/27 season, with even clubs like Barcelona dreaming of pairing him with their own young superstars like Pau Cubarsi.

Tottenham knew all along that Vuskovic had the potential to be special, and just one loan later, he has banked on that potential. But Spurs fans may be in for another treat, as they have a recent signing who, likewise, has the upside to become the next big thing in his position.

Souza has world-class potential

Souza joined Tottenham for a mere 13 million pounds from Palmeiras during the winter transfer window, and whlie he was not signed to immediately start and did not turn the tide of the relegation battle, he is a reason to not completely despise and otherwise highly underwhelming transfer window from Johan Lange and Vinai Venkatesham.

Though he did not play much, Souza shone brightly when he did play. According to The Athletic's Jay Harris, new manager Roberto De Zerbi is, like Lange, a huge fan of the Brazilian prospect's. The problem is that Spurs were interested in Andrew Robertson in that same transfer window to be veteran depth for the injury prone Destiny Udogie, and so Souza was never expected to get early playing time. And now that Spurs have signed Robertson for free this summer, talks of loaning out the 19 year old are under way.

Although Hamburg won't make much sense since they have Miro Muheim shining as a left wing back and a veteran leader, another Bundesliga club could make a ton of sense. So many left backs have become stars in that league at a young age - or even older, like former Barcelona prospect Alejandro Grimaldo over at Bayer Leverkusen - and those skills translate well to other leagues.

Souza is a great athlete with technical quality, and he could become one of the best left backs in the world one day. Luka Vuskovic did not need any time to become world-class in the Bundesliga, and while Souza may need more polish, this is a guy with the raw tools and upside to become the Vuskovic of left backs, if you will, for Spurs. Tottenham need to carefully his next landing spot, because if he ends up in a place where fullbacks are important to the attack and he can get challenged physically as a two way player (Ligue 1 would also make a lot of sense), then Spurs could have another new supersar on their hands.

Sky: Juventus in talks to re-sign Randal Kolo Muani - Yahoo Sports
Description

After an underwhelming spell on loan with Tottenham Hotspur this spring, there doesn’t appear to be a world where Spurs end up re-loaning or signing PSG winger Randal Kolo Muani this summer. That’s not at all surprising, as despite getting numerous starting opportunities in Tottenham’s run-in, ol’ Randy Kilo Miami disappointed, scoring one goal league goal and one assist despite making 21 starts. Not great!

It appears that another club is interested in Randy, though, and it’s a familiar one to him — Juventus. According Sky, Juventus want to bring Kolo Muani back to Italy in what would be his second stint after spending part of 2025 on loan there.

Why am I writing a quick article about a loan player nobody especially liked and whom Tottenham aren’t interested in signing? Well, it’s a slow news and I figured someone would find it interesting. Even if we don’t find Randy particularly interesting anymore, he’s still a human being and I hope he’s able to find a club that fits his skillset and that he can use to kick-start his career. Italy is a slower league and I wonder if he’ll be better there than in the Best League in World Football.™

Thankfully, however, it won’t be at Spurs. Godspeed, Randy.

Angelo Stiller

I know what you're thinking. Another central midfielder, surely this is a wind-up.

But Stuttgart's Stiller is not in the typical mould of the midfielders Spurs seem to buy annually – this guy can actually pass the ball forwards, which will be a real novelty for supporters to enjoy.

That may seem a harsh assessment of Joao Palhinha and Rodrigo Bentancur who served the club dutifully during trying circumstances this season. You could argue the former even saved them from relegation with his crucial goals against Wolves and Everton, though it seems unlikely Palhinha's loan from Bayern Munich will be made permanent at this point.

That's the sort of ruthlessness that will need to be shown this summer if Tottenham are to advance to the level required of a side coached by Roberto de Zerbi.

The 25-year-old has composure in spades, an eye for a pass and has been primed for a move to one of Europe's top clubs for a while. Spurs may not be that right now – though signing Stiller would show serious aspiration to return to the Premier League's upper echelon.

Failing that, I'd only be half-joking by suggesting the best signing Spurs could make would be a new club doctor.

To have been so badly blighted by injuries for the second season running requires introspection; once is bad luck, twice cannot be ignored.

Savinho's ideal role at Tottenham makes another area of need more crucial

Savinho's ideal role at Tottenham makes another area of need more crucial - Yahoo Sports
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are getting closer and closer to signing Savinho from Manchester City, and after Xavi Simons posted a photo of the two together on social media, Spurs fans are buzzing with the feeling that a deal could be imminent.

Spurs tried to sign Savinho last summer from Man City, but Pep Guaridola and the Citizens were afraid of losing a quality player for the future and immediate depth on the wings. After the addition of Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo in the winter, Man City had even less room for Savinho, and, now, they are more open to selling in 2026 with a new regime in charge.

Tottenham have been, by far, the most interested club dating back to last year, and this looks like a 50 million pound blockbuster signing that actually has a chance of happening for Spurs - and the fans have been waiting for this kind of a potential superstar signing from an elite club for a while.

Tottenham need an actual scorer

When Savinho arrives at N17, he will be able to start on either the left or right flank as a left footer, but the best area for him to play is as a traditional winger so that Mohammed Kudus, who is also left footed, can stay on the right. Kudus is always more comfortable on the right, dating back to his days at West Ham United, and Spurs will still dream of Dejan Kulusevski returning from his nasty knee injury to be the left footed backup right winger.

But Tottenham need a new left winger to spell Mathys Tel, who is a goal threat and inverts on his right foot to shoot. The problem is that Spurs lack space with a traditional No. 10, either Xavi Simons or James Maddison, starting in the middle of the attack.

Savinho moving over to the left opens up a lot of space for Simons and the others, but having more of a traditional winger on the left takes away the opportunity for a secondary goal scorer to assist the No. 9. And, well, Tottenham do not even have a primary goal scorer at striker, and one of the reasons why they signed Dominic Solanke two years ago was to have a well rounded creative striker who could help combine with Son Heung-min on the left wing.

Tottenham only had one conceivable scoring threat last season, and that was Richarlison with 11 Premier League goals. Nobody else was even close. And Richarlison is probably going to leave soon if Spurs are able to find a legitimate transfer offer for the striker, who was only the best optin for the team because Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani were so horrible.

3 Tottenham players who are safe (and 3 on thin ice) for Roberto De Zerbi's rebuild

3 Tottenham players who are safe (and 3 on thin ice) for Roberto De Zerbi's rebuild - Yahoo Sports
Description

Roberto De Zerbi achieved his aim of preventing Tottenham Hotspur from being relegated. He has vowed that the club can never get into the position they found themselves in last season. In order to do this, he needs to rebuild Spurs' roster.

Antonin Kinsky

Antonn Kinsky showed great resilience last season when bouncing back from the humiliation he suffered under Igor Tudor. He was subbed off after just 17 minutes in a defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

De Zerbi reinstated Kinsky into his lineup, and he made some crucial saves to ensure that Spurs kept their place in the Premier League. There was talk that the keeper would be on his way out of Spurs, and there would be a recruit in the position. However, rumors of a keeper such as James Trafford coming in have stalled, and De Zerbi appears to want to stick with Kinsky.

Conor Gallagher

When Conor Gallagher first joined Spurs in January, it was not seen as the best of fits, as he is so synonymous with Chelsea. His performances initially were poor. However, De Zerbi managed to get the best out of him and moved him into a more attacking role.

Gallagher scored a crucial opening goal against Aston Villa in an important victory for Spurs. It remains to be seen what De Zerbi will do with the midfield now that players such as James Maddison are back from injury. However, Gallagher's recent performances have shown what a good player he can be for Spurs.

If Spurs can sign Joo Palhinha permanently from Bayern Munich, then De Zerbi could build a formidable midfield.

Micky van de Ven

There were rumors that Micky van de Ven could be on his way out of Tottenham. He was linked with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Barcelona. However, De Zerbi can get Spurs back into Europe, and this will match Van de Ven's ambitions.

Cristian Romero

Cristian Romero was a very disruptive captain for Tottenham last season. He was no stranger to taking to social media to have a rant. There was also the controversy as to whether or not he would be at Spurs' final game of the season. There were reports that he would be in Argentina watching his former club Belgrano. However, ultimately, he was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to see his team beat Everton 1-0.

Romero's performances were not great, and he missed multiple games due to injury and suspension. He is one player that De Zerbi needs to get rid of. He has been linked with Atletico and Barcelona. He is a bad egg who does not want to be at Tottenham. It would be wise for De Zerbi to ship him out as soon as possible.

Guglielmo Vicario

As Kinsky appears to be De Zerbi's preferred goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario needs to move on to ensure first-team soccer. The Italian has been linked with a return to his homeland with big clubs such as Juventus and Inter Milan.

Dominic Solanke

Dominic Solanke missed much of last season due to ankle surgery. He played just three times under De Zerbi, where he failed to score or make an assist. He then suffered a muscle injury and did not feature in any of Tottenham's final four Premier League games of the season.

He is contracted to Spurs until 2030, but Richarlison scored some important goals for Spurs last season. They also have Matys Tel, who is a younger option but has yet to prove himself in a Tottenham shirt.

Why Real Madrid's latest transfer news is great for Tottenham

Why Real Madrid's latest transfer news is great for Tottenham - Yahoo Sports
Description

A major reshuffle in personnel is expected at Tottenham Hotspur this summer, with Roberto De Zerbi pointing towards an imminent clear-out right after his team avoided relegation.

What has occured domestically over the past couple of seasons cannot persist. The Premier League is far too competitive for Spurs to simply believe that financial might is enough to retain their top-flight status. We came perilously close to disaster last season.

There were mitigating factors, sure, and the presence of De Zerbi on the touchline should offer hope that the Lilywhites will swiftly ascend north. This is a player's game, though, and recruitment hasn't exactly been our strong suit in recent years, excluding a few savvy pieces of business.

There's barely a position group that looks secure. Changes will be widespread, but there are a couple of staples who should retain their status in 2026/27. One of those is Pedro Porro, who put a wretched campaign behind him when De Zerbi came to town, and produced an impressive stretch of form when Spurs needed it most.

Plenty should be making way this summer, but Porro isn't one of them.

Real Madrid close to signing Pedro Porro alternative

Despite his issues pre-De Zerbi, Porro is garnering plenty of transfer buzz. Real Madrid were among those interested, but the deal they've struck with Inter Milan for Denzel Dumfries surely rules them out of the running.

Los Blancos only need a replacement for Dani Carvajal, not yet Trent Alexander-Arnold.

There had also been talk of Manchester City, who signed Porro in 2019 before he was loaned out Real Valladolid and sold to Sporting CP in 2022, potentially coming in for the Spaniard. However, Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday that Spurs have no intention of selling Porro, who's heading to the World Cup with Spain.

The right back is regarded as a key piece to De Zerbi's project.

These would be two clubs for Porro to turn down, even if City have stiffed the 26-year-old once before. Still, it was evident, certainly after De Zerbi came in, just how much Porro cares about this football club. All he could do was collapse to his knees then shed a tear alongside Cristian Romero once safety was confirmed on the final day.

There are, of course, imperfections, with Porro's occasional passivity in one-on-one situations exacerbated by the volume of minutes he's racked up in recent seasons. He disappointed as a crosser under Thomas Frank, but was mightily effective when De Zerbi encouraged him to operate infield.

Porro is one of very few reliable technicians already on our books. We should be preparing a new contract.

Tottenham's best player is also the biggest winner from a Savinho transfer

Tottenham's best player is also the biggest winner from a Savinho transfer - Yahoo Sports
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been pursuing Manchester City star Savinho for nearly a year now. Last summer late in the transfer window, Spurs forged ahead with serious interest in the Brazilian international, but Man City were understandably uninterested in letting the high upside U23 winger go, especially to a Premier League Big Six rival.

Well, a year later and with a new front office and a new manager after Pep Guardiola's departure, Manchester City are more open to selling Savinho than before, even though they acknowledge his upside. And even though Spurs, who finished a mere 17th in the Premier League again last season, are a step down on paper, for a guy who only got to start seven games in a crowded Man City front line, Spurs are actually a step up for Spurs.

There has been increasing optimism over the past couple of days that Savinho to Spurs is imminent, and transfer insiders like @szyexcl are relaying information that a deal will indeed happen, and fans themselves suddenly feel confident about the Man City star heading to N17 after Spurs star Xavi Simons posted photo of the two together. The same @szyexcl even says that ever since last year when the Lilywhites first went after Savinho, Simons has been actively in touch with the Brazilian in a recruiting effort.

Xavi Simons is going to love Savinho

Not only is a great to see how much Simons believes in the club and is trying to bring star power to Tottenham Hotspur, but it's also the case that no single player on Spurs stands to benefit more from Saviho coming into the fold than Simons.

Savinho is an electrifying player who can take defenders on, hold width, and draw attention out on one wing - and it does not matter which wing it is, though he is actually better as a traditionally left footed left winger.

A former La Liga Player of the Season candidate for Girona in the 2023/24 season, Savinho had his team briefly flirting with title contention against Real Madrid, such was his ability to elevate an entire team. And for years before joining Spurs, whether at PSV or RB Leipzig, Simons was the same kind of a player who could carry the load for a team as a dribbler and progressor.

The thing is, playing for Tottenham is a lot harder in terms of having space and transition opportunities, and you could see, even with the improvements Roberto De Zerbi made, that Tottenham did not have enough space for Simons. Mohammed Kudus on the right can open things up, but he is more inverted and so is Mathys Tel on the left, who is basically a second striker.

What Simons needs is a guy like Savinho opposite from Kudus who can draw the defenders out to the touch line, giving Simons more space to work with. Savinho is one of the best one on one dribblers in the Premier League, like Kudus, except he is even quicker in those short areas. It's no wonder why Simons is so thrilled to have Savinho on the transfer radar.

Middlesbrough want £20million for Tottenham Hotspur target Hayden Hackney

Description

Middlesbrough want £20 million from suitors for Tottenham Hotspur target Hayden Hackney, according to The Times.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club are one of those keen on bringing the 23-year-old to the Premier League this summer.

Spurs have opted against activating the option to sign Bayern Munich star Joao Palhinha permanently for £26m after his impressive loan spell ended.

However, while they are looking to make a fresh move for the 30-year-old and pay less, Hackney is emerging as a contingency plan.

The Boro star was named the Championship Player of the Season following an impressive campaign, and he also cost Southampton the £200m bounty that reaching the Premier League would have brought the Saints.

They were removed from the Championship play-off final after their manager Tonda Eckert sent a junior member of staff to spy on Middlesbrough’s training session to ascertain Hackney’s fitness before the Championship play-off semi-final.

The defensive midfielder bagged five goals and eight assists in 38 league appearances this term, and Spurs could do with his services in the middle of the park.

Everton, Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace also have the Englishman on their radar, while Sunderland and Nottingham Forest had their interest rebuffed during the winter transfer window.

Hackney is in the final year of his contract and some of his suitors could be willing to wait until next summer when he could be available for free.

Boro risk losing him for nothing if they fail in their promotion bid again next season, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham or others are willing to spend £20m on him right now.

The Lilywhites will look to make key additions to their squad this summer after almost getting relegated.

Manager Roberto De Zerbi will hope to sign players capable of helping Spurs to challenge for a Champions League spot, and Hackney could be perfect for his midfield.

Tottenham Transfer News: Jean Matteo Bahoya Interest Signals Ambitious Spurs Summer

Credit to TEAMtalk for the original information on Tottenham Hotspur’s reported interest in Jean Matteo Bahoya, the Eintracht Frankfurt winger now emerging as one of the more intriguing names of the summer window.

Bahoya Profile Fits De Zerbi Vision

Tottenham’s interest in Bahoya feels like the sort of transfer story that tells us as much about the direction of the club as it does about the player himself. At 21, the French winger represents risk, projection and possibility, three things that tend to sit at the heart of any serious rebuild.

Bahoya, signed by Frankfurt from Angers in January 2024, has built his reputation around acceleration, direct running and the ability to disturb settled defensive shapes. For Roberto De Zerbi, that profile makes obvious sense. His football needs players who can stretch the pitch, receive under pressure and turn possession into incision.

Photo IMAGO

Spurs have had too many spells where the ball has moved without enough menace. Bahoya’s appeal is that he offers something sharper. He is not merely another body for the forward line, he is a player who could alter the rhythm of attacks.

Frankfurt Valuation Creates Transfer Test

TEAMtalk report that Frankfurt value Bahoya at around €70million, £60.5m, $81.4m, with his contract running until 2029. That matters. This is not a vulnerable selling club with a player approaching the final stages of his deal. Frankfurt can wait. Tottenham, if their interest hardens, will need to act with conviction.

That fee also changes the tone of the pursuit. At £60.5m, Bahoya would not be a speculative addition. He would arrive with expectation, pressure and a sense that Spurs believe he can become a defining figure in De Zerbi’s attacking structure.

There is also wider interest to consider. Previous attention from Saudi Pro League clubs, including Al Hilal and Al Ittihad, only adds to the sense that Frankfurt know they hold a valuable asset.

Spurs Need More Than Numbers

Tottenham’s need for attacking reinvention is clear. They require youth, yes, but not youth for its own sake. They need dynamism with purpose, pace with intelligence, and technical quality that survives Premier League intensity.

Bahoya’s versatility is a key part of the attraction. He can operate wide on either side or as an attacking midfielder, which would give De Zerbi more flexibility in a system built on rotation, angles and overloads. Spurs have too often looked like a side searching for one more pass rather than one decisive action.

A player like Bahoya would not solve every issue, but he would make Tottenham less predictable.

Summer Statement Carries Risk

For supporters, the temptation is obvious. A young French winger, already tested in the Bundesliga and Europe, carrying a major price tag and admired across the continent, has the feel of a marquee move.

But Spurs have learned before that promise must be accompanied by structure. Bahoya would need a clear role, patience and a platform. The fee would demand immediate impact, while his age would require time.

That is the tension at the heart of this report. Tottenham want to behave like a club building the future, but they also need results now. Bahoya sits right between those two demands.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

From a Tottenham supporter’s perspective, this is exactly the type of link that excites and worries in equal measure. Bahoya sounds like a player made for the modern Premier League, quick, flexible, aggressive in possession and still young enough to be shaped by a coach with strong attacking principles.

The concern is the price. £60.5m is serious money for a player many Spurs fans will still be learning about. That does not mean he lacks quality, but it does mean the recruitment department must be absolutely certain. Tottenham cannot afford another summer of expensive maybes.

Still, there is something encouraging about the ambition. If De Zerbi wants wide players who can isolate defenders, attack space and combine centrally, Bahoya appears to make sense. Spurs need more unpredictability in the final third. Too often, attacks have felt tidy rather than terrifying.

The question is whether this would be the flagship attacking signing or part of a wider rebuild. If Bahoya arrives alongside smart additions in midfield and defence, supporters may see a coherent plan. If he becomes the one big splash, the pressure on him could become unfair very quickly.

For now, it feels like a rumour worth watching. Not because it is guaranteed, but because it hints at the kind of Tottenham De Zerbi may want to build.
