Match to end in a draw

Both teams ended long trophy droughts last season and are competing in Europe's top tier this term, but with two-thirds of the Premier League season now done, have seriously underachieved domestically and find themselves languishing in mid-table. Spurs finished 17th last season under Ange Postecoglou and would certainly have hoped for a much greater improvement from Thomas Frank, who has them 15th. Tottenham's home form has been dreadful, winning just two of their twelve league games, and the crowd could quickly turn if they go behind again.

Well, this one is a battle of a stoppable force against a movable object, as Newcastle's form away from home is equally as poor, with just two wins from their twelve away games this season. Eddie Howe is under pressure for the first real time in his Newcastle reign, after they were booed off in a 3-2 defeat at home to Brentford on Saturday, which made it three league defeats on the bounce to leave them 12th. The Magpies are unbeaten in their last five against Spurs, and with each team struggling for consistency, we can see them sharing the spoils on Tuesday night.

Both teams to score

Thomas Frank's Tottenham side haven't been the easiest on the eye to watch, which is a large part of why the fanbase hasn't warmed to him, but they have been much better at finding the back of the net of late. Spurs have scored in their last ten home games in all competitions, and picked up a hard-fought point after clawing back a two-goal deficit against Manchester City.

Newcastle rarely fail to entertain, even if they're looking increasingly vulnerable recently, and both teams have scored in each of their last three away games. We're predicting an entertaining 2-2 draw, with both teams to score going in our bet builder.

Bruno Guimaraes 1+ shots on target

Newcastle's captain and talisman Bruno Guimaraes has carried his team at times this season, but even his return from injury wasn't enough to prevent Brentford from consigning his side to a damaging defeat at the weekend.

The Brazil international is having a fine individual campaign, with nine goals and four assists from central midfield, matching his best return in a league season. He had a goal and an assist at the weekend, and now has at least one shot on target in his last six starts, a streak we're backing him to continue in North London.

Joao Palhinha to get booked

Joao Palhinha had a strong start to his Tottenham career after joining from Bayern Munich last summer, scoring and playing a starring role as Spurs pulled off a statement 2-0 away at Manchester City in August.

Much like his side's season, Palhinha's form has trailed off, though he hasn't been helped by having to fill in as an emergency centre-back and right-back in recent weeks due to a raft of defensive injuries. That makes captain Cristian Romero's red card in their defeat at Old Trafford even less timely, with the Argentinian set to miss the next four games.

Palhinha has six yellow cards this season - only topped at Spurs by guess who, Romero - and may have to fill in an unfamiliar role again. Against Newcastle's speed on the counter, we could see Palhinha adding to his card tally.

Description

Dive into Ladbrokes' post-match review of Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday, 01 November 2025, with stats, key moments and our take on the match.

Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Chelsea Post-Match Review

Well, that was a tough one for Tottenham at home, wasn't it? Chelsea nicked it 1-0, and you could feel the tension in the air. The top result in Tottenham's recent form shows this loss, snapping a bit of a rollercoaster ride after a convincing win against Everton and a narrow defeat to Aston Villa. As for Chelsea, they've bounced back nicely from their loss to Sunderland with this victory, adding to their earlier win over Nottingham Forest. Not the most surprising result, but certainly a gut punch for Spurs fans hoping to keep their momentum going.

Chelsea's defence held firm, and they managed to keep Tottenham at bay despite the home side's efforts. It's a result that keeps both teams in the thick of the race, with Tottenham's recent form showing they can be unpredictable. João Pedro's goal in the 34th minute was the difference, and it's a testament to Chelsea's ability to capitalise on their chances. Tottenham will be looking to regroup and come back stronger, but for now, it's Chelsea who are celebrating.

Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Chelsea Statistics

Looking at the stats, it's clear that the game was closely contested. Tottenham had 48% possession compared to Chelsea's 52%, which suggests a fairly even battle for control. What's interesting is that Tottenham managed more corners (6 to Chelsea's 5) and had a higher successful dribble percentage (44% to Chelsea's 32%), yet they couldn't find the back of the net. The yellow card count was higher for Tottenham (4) than for Chelsea (2), indicating perhaps a bit more frustration on their part.

Despite the stats suggesting a close game, Chelsea's efficiency in front of goal made all the difference. The assist count (0 for Tottenham, 1 for Chelsea) highlights their ability to create and convert the crucial chance. It's a reminder that sometimes, it's not about dominating the stats but making the most of the opportunities you get.

Key Moments from Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Chelsea

The key moment that decided the match came in the 34th minute when João Pedro found the back of the net for Chelsea. It was a well-taken goal that shifted the momentum firmly in Chelsea's favour. Tottenham tried to respond, but the goal seemed to galvanise Chelsea's defence, making it difficult for the home side to break through.

As the game wore on, Tottenham made six substitutions in an attempt to change the tide, while Chelsea made four. Despite the changes, Tottenham couldn't find an equaliser, and Chelsea's solid performance ensured they held on for the win. That single goal from João Pedro was enough to secure the three points and leave Tottenham searching for answers.

Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Chelsea Lineups

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Guglielmo Vicario in goal and a back four of Pedro Porro, Kevin Danso, Micky van de Ven, and Djed Spence. In midfield, João Palhinha and Rodrigo Bentancur provided the base, with Mohammed Kudus, Pape Matar Sarr, and Lucas Bergvall supporting Randal Kolo Muani up top. No real surprises in the lineup, but the six substitutions made by manager Ange Postecoglou suggest a search for a spark that never quite ignited.

Despite the effort, no standout performances from Tottenham's side, and the key moments data doesn't highlight any individual brilliance. The team will need to regroup and find a way to turn their possession and chances into goals in future matches.

Chelsea

Chelsea also opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Robert Sánchez between the sticks and a backline of Malo Gusto, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, and Marc Cucurella. The midfield was anchored by Reece James and Moisés Caicedo, with Pedro Neto, Enzo Fernández, and Alejandro Garnacho supporting João Pedro up front. The lineup was solid, and the key moment of the match came from João Pedro's goal in the 34th minute.

Chelsea's substitutions were fewer than Tottenham's, but they managed to maintain their shape and defensive solidity throughout the game. João Pedro's performance was the standout, and his goal was the difference-maker in a tightly contested match.

Ladbrokes' Man of the Match

João Pedro is Ladbrokes' Man of the Match, and it's easy to see why. His goal in the 34th minute was the decisive moment of the game, and he also created one big chance and made two key passes. His contribution was crucial in securing the victory for Chelsea, and he showed his class on the pitch.
