It is fair to say Liverpool enjoyed coming up against Tottenham last season.

They meet again this Saturday after four games between the sides in 2024-25 - including a two-legged Carabao Cup semi-final - with the aggregate score finishing 15-5 to the Reds.

Below, we take a look back at all four matches.

Tottenham 3-6 Liverpool, 22 December 2024

A real Christmas cracker.

The irresistible Reds opened up a four-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a merciless thrashing of an injury-hit Spurs. Doubles from Mohammed Salah and Luis Diaz and a goal each from Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai put Liverpool 6-1 up before late consolations from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke. James Maddison hit Tottenham's first.

Tottenham 1-0 Liverpool, 8 January 2025

Spurs edged a tight game 1-0 to take a slender lead from the first leg of this Carabao Cup semi-final.

Youngster Lucas Bergvall struck late, just moments after avoiding a second yellow card when he caught Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas late in an incident not seen by the referee.

This one didn't matter too much though...

Liverpool 4-0 Tottenham, 6 February 2025

Four goals, four different scorers, and a final place booked.

Despite the first-leg deficit, this one never looked in doubt with Liverpool again showing their ability to cut through Spurs almost at will.

The chants about being off to Wembley began shortly into the second half as goals from Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk sparked celebrations inside Anfield.

Liverpool 5-1 Tottenham, 27 April 2025

The sweetest of the lot. On a sunny spring Sunday, inside a jubilant Anfield, Liverpool secured their second Premier league title - and their first in front of fans.

Dominic Solanke gave Spurs a shock early lead but five goals from five different goalscorers saw the Reds roar back to blow their opponents away and set the wheels in motion for one big party on Merseyside.

Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah were all on target with the final strike an own goal by Spurs' Destiny Udogie.

So what about this weekend's meeting?

Despite a difficult start to their title defence, it is unlikely that Arne Slot's side will be anything but confident going into Saturday's meeting in north London.

In 66 matches between the two sides in the Premier League, Liverpool have won 34 and Spurs 15 with 17 draws.

In fact, they have beaten the Reds just once in their last 15 league meetings.

This match has also produced the most goals in Premier League history (206).

Another goalfest on Saturday?

Tottenham Hotspur host Liverpool at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Spurs suffered a humbling 3-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest, while Liverpool beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 at Anfield last weekend.

Match preview

Tottenham have collected just five points from their last six league matches. They have also struggled at home this term, picking up eight points from eight matches, raising concerns ahead of Liverpool’s visit.

While manager Thomas Frank still enjoys the support of the Spurs hierarchy, he must turn things around quickly, starting with this fixture.

Liverpool, on the other hand, will be aiming for back-to-back victories in the league for the first time since September as they look to build consistency.

The Reds are unbeaten in their last five games across all competitions, with manager Arne Slot now favouring a 4-4-2 diamond formation.

However, the defending champions are still defensively vulnerable, offering Tottenham some hope ahead of this game.

Spurs versus Liverpool is the top scoring fixture in Premier League history, making Saturday’s showdown one of the most exciting match-ups of the weekend.

Head-to-head

Across 66 Premier League matches, Spurs have won 15, lost 34 and drawn 17 against Liverpool.

Team news

Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski, Destiny Udogie, and James Maddison remain sidelined for Spurs. Radu Dragusin and Kota Takai are close to returning to fitness but this match may come too soon for them.

Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma are also unavailable for selection for the hosts due to AFCON.

Liverpool are without Giovanni Leoni, Joe Gomez, and Jeremie Frimpong, while it is touch-and-go for Dominik Szoboszlai. Mohamed Salah is also unavailable due to AFCON.

Key players

Tottenham

Cristian Romero: He has been largely solid when fit and has scored two league goals.

Mohammed Kudus: His trickery and pace could be vital for Spurs.

Liverpool

Hugo Ekitike: Has scored four goals in his last two league games.

Curtis Jones: Has been brilliant recently, impressing in the new tactical set-up.
