FOOTBALL - Coventry City sign Yang Min-hyeok on loan from Tottenham Hotspur
COVENTRY City have confirmed the signing of Yang Min-hyeok on loan from Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season.
Yang becomes Frank Lampard’s first signing of the January transfer window.
The 19-year-old winger spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Portsmouth.
Yang said: “I’m very happy and excited to join a club with such strong traditions and history.
“When I played against Coventry, I really felt the positive atmosphere within the team, and that made me even more excited about becoming part of this club.
“The head coach explained very clearly how he plans to use me and how I could fit into the team, which gave me a lot of confidence that this is the right place for me.
“I want to help the team achieve its goal and to do that, I need to adapt as quickly as possible, show my qualities on the pitch, and prove why I am here.”
Yang has won two caps for South Korea’s senior team and scored three goals and provided one assist for Pompey in 16 appearances.
He will wear the number 18 shirt during his time with the Sky Blues.
The teenager started his career with Gangwon FC in his native South Korea where he scored 12 goals in 38 appearances.
His performances saw him win the K League 1 young player of the year award in 2024.
He also enjoyed a loan spell with Queens Park Rangers last season.
