Tottenham Hotspur are doing some great things during the January transfer window.

The club are languishing in 14th place in the Premier League table, and with that in mind, it’s clear that behind the scenes, the powers that be believe there is no time to waste.

Conor Gallagher is the first on-field signing made by Tottenham, and his arrival from Atletico Madrid should serve as a big boost to Thomas Frank.

Other players are being targeted in the transfer window, with players being looked at from every corner of the globe before the window slams shut.

Now, it would appear that Frank has been backed by the board after a big announcement was made regarding the coaching staff.

Tottenham appoint John Heitinga as new assistant coach

Tottenham have this afternoon announced the big appointment of Heitinga as the club’s new assistant first-team coach to work alongside Frank.

Heitinga has a burgeoning reputation as a coach, having managed Ajax himself and also worked alongside Arne Slot at Liverpool.

The Dutchman has also spent time working with David Moyes at West Ham.

MORE SPURS STORIES

There hasn’t been any indication that a new assistant coach was being sought by Frank and this move does come a little bit out of the blue.

The ONE piece of advice John Heitinga must give Thomas Frank is _____________?

The new assistant coach was appointed by Tottenham today!

Mohammed Kudus will be delighted with Heitinga’s appointment

Kudus is currently out of action until April, but he will be itching to get back now that Heitinga has arrived at the Tottenham training ground.

The Ghanaian international spent a period of time being managed by Heitinga at Ajax, and frankly, it sounds as though he was blown away by his methods.

He told Voetbal Primeur: “Apart from the training aspect, I also hold him in high regard in terms of standards and values.

“Personally, I would have liked to have worked with him longer. He is a top trainer, and I really appreciated his efforts to make the players better at the time.”

“When he took over for the rest of the season, he immediately showed impact. Things got better.”

Kudus will now hope to prove his fitness as quickly as possible and start working under Heitinga on the training pitch once again.

Tottenham Hotspur are in the race to sign Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz, who is one of the most highly sought-after players in Europe right now.

The winger has been enjoying a great season in Serie A this year, with seven goals and four assists despite Juventus’ struggles.

Prove us wrong: Kenan Yildiz would be the best player Tottenham could sign in January…

Currently, the 20-year-old’s future is up in the air, with several European giants monitoring his contract situation in Turin.

Spurs are now believed to be among the team who are looking at the youngster and could make an audacious bid to land him.

Tottenham admire Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz

Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be keen admirers of Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz during the January transfer window, according to Dean Jones.

One of the priorities this month for the North London club is to sign another attacker, given the limited options available to Thomas Frank.

Following the sale of Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace and Mohammed Kudus’ injury, Spurs are ready to accelerate plans to sign a wide attacker.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Tottenham are expected to make an ‘exciting’ attacking signing, and that certainly would be the case if they could bring Yildiz to North London.

However, Spurs face strong competition to get him from other clubs, but also Juventus, who still believe he will sign a new deal with them.

💷 Hypothetically, Tottenham give you £100m to spend in January, who are you signing?

Fabio Paratici should make it his mission to bring the Turkish international to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, in what would be the perfect parting gift from the Italian.

The Italian director has previously signed several former Juventus players, including Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Paratici leaves Tottenham at the end of January, despite having only just made his return to the club following a 30-month ban.

Maghnes Akliouche is expected to leave AS Monaco

Maghnes Akliouche, who is another Tottenham target, is expected to leave AS Monaco either in January or next summer, according to Alasdair Gold.

The French club have already started preparing for his departure by looking at replacements, which could boost Spurs’ hopes of landing him now.

“I mean, only going off the Monaco game and obviously what we’ve seen of him kind of over the last couple of seasons, he just looks a brilliant talent. It’s such a talent,” Gold told Talking Tottenham Podcast.

“From what I understand from people who know Monaco inside out and the French market as well is that Monaco are looking for potential replacements for him because they do fear that they’ll, if they’re not going to lose him this month, they’ll lose him in the summer.”

Thomas Frank has suggested that Conor Gallagher will be ready to make his debut for Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday against West Ham United.

Tottenham have signed Gallagher for £36 million from Atletico Madrid in a deal that moved incredibly quickly on Monday.

Who should Conor Gallagher replace against West Ham?

Which position is Gallagher going to play?

Following Rodrigo Bentancur’s bad hamstring injury, which will sideline him for three months, the North London club moved quickly to find a replacement.

The 25-year-old could now be set to make his first appearance for the Lilywhites over the weekend, and it will be in a London derby.

Thomas Frank drops Conor Gallagher hint ahead of Tottenham vs West Ham

Thomas Frank has already had the chance to meet Conor Gallagher following his move to Tottenham Hotspur and asked him about being ready to face West Ham.

After greeting him at Hotspur Way, Frank told him on Tottenham’s YouTube: “Yeah, then maybe just get out there, get the body going, and then wait for Thursday, Friday (training) and then the game on Saturday.”

Frank is under pressure at Tottenham and will need to get a big result against the Hammers this Saturday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Now, having a player like Gallagher available should be a huge boost for Spurs’ chances of winning, and he should be ready to go.

Fill in the blank: Conor Gallagher is a ______________ signing for Tottenham…

Is he actually what Spurs need right now?

The former Chelsea captain was last in action for Atletico Madrid last week, completing 45 minutes in their 2-1 defeat against Real Madrid.

It’s most likely that Gallagher will come into the team, playing in the number ten role, with Xavi Simons moving out to the left.

Alasdair Gold thinks Conor Gallagher will surprise Tottenham fans

Tottenham journalist Alasdair Gold is backing Gallagher to surprise the club’s fans with his actual technical ability on the ball.

Speaking about the signing, Gold told Talking Tottenham Pod: “I don’t think that if people expect him to just be a bit of a bog standard midfielder, then I think they are going to be surprised by him. I think he is a bit of an all-rounder.

“Obviously, he’s got the ferocious levels of energy and aggression and stuff and winning the ball back on the pitch, but he does create openings for others.

“I was looking up his stats and in the 23/24 season at Chelsea, he created 53 chances for his teammates, which was the 10th highest number in the Premier League list of midfielders that season.”

Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a return to Tottenham at the end of the season.

Thomas Frank is under pressure at Tottenham, despite being a few months into his job in North London.

Results and performances have been dire for Spurs, and they find themselves 14th in the Premier League.

Michael Carrick would be the ideal Thomas Frank replacement…

Alan Brazil delivers verdict on Mauricio Pochettino returning to Tottenham

Speaking on talkSPORT, Alan Brazil discussed the return of Pochettino to Tottenham.

The Argentine is currently plying his trade in the United States as he aims to guide the host nation to a successful home World Cup campaign.

His contract runs out at the end of the competition and he is expected to return to club football after that.

Mauricio Pochettino will reject Tottenham this summer…

Disagree? Let us know why! 👇

MORE SPURS STORIES

Brazil believes that Pochettino wants to return to Spurs and has asked the fanbase to be real about their expectations of getting in a serial winner over him.

He said: “He’s a really nice guy. I think he wants to come back.

“Daniel Levy has gone now, so maybe he could come back after the World Cup.

“I do think the whole energy of Spurs needs to change. But the problem is there’s a whole heap of fan base that’ll be like, Pochettino’s not the guy. He’s rubbish. He’s not won anything.

“Because we have the beautiful stadium and the beautiful training facilities and this, and we are a big club historically, I think people think we’re in a bigger place than what we are.

“I just think a lot of fans need a reality check.”

Will Pochettino prefer Spurs over Manchester United or Real Madrid?

Pochettino will most certainly have a number of clubs to pick from at the end of the World Cup.

Regardless of how the United States fare, his work in the Premier League and in Spain and France is sufficient for some of the top European sides to take a punt on him.

Not having Levy to deal with at Spurs is certainly a benefit, and he will be aware of how well-liked he is by the fanbase.

This would ease the pressure early on, and he could come with certain assurances over transfers.

That said, he has been linked with the Manchester United job and was previously linked to Real Madrid, and both clubs will look to make permanent appointments in the summer.

If Spurs cannot offer European football and both sides are interested in him, there is little chance of him fancying a move to North London over them.

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to sign a new goalkeeper at the end of the season, and Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen has emerged as a key target.

Verbruggen has become one of the most highly rated shot stoppers in the Premier League this season and is on Johan Lange’s list of targets.

True or false: Tottenham MUST upgrade Guglielmo Vicario…

Guglielmo Vicario could soon be replaced in North London, given the question marks over his ability.

Tottenham fans have been eager for the club to sign an upgrade on the Italian for quite some time, but they will have to wait until the summer.

Tottenham plan to replace Guglielmo Vicario next summer

Tottenham Hotspur are planning to replace Vicario next summer, according to Graeme Bailey.

Right now, Spurs have no immediate plans to replace the Italian shot stopper in January, but it will soon become a task for Lange and his team.

Speaking about Tottenham’s transfer plans after signing Conor Gallagher, Bailey told TeamTalk: “I think they’ll do the goalkeeper.

MORE SPURS STORIES

“Not in January, I don’t think. I think they’ll do it in the summer, definitely, and as we know, they’re working on players, like Verbruggen and plenty of goalkeepers on the continent.”

Complete the sentence: The goalkeeper Tottenham should sign next summer is ____________

🧤 Who should replace Vicario?

Brighton’s Verbruggen is one of the players on their list of targets as they start to consider which player they will sign.

The Seagulls signed the Dutch goalkeeper for £16.3 million, according to BBC Sport, back in the summer of 2023.

Verbruggen has really impressed on the South Coast since making the switch from Anderlecht, and next summer he could be on the move again.

His performances have seen him become Ronald Koeman’s first-choice goalkeeper for the Dutch national team, starting alongside Micky van de Ven and Xavi Simons.

Antonin Kinsky will surely want to leave Tottenham

One player who won’t be impressed by the arrival of Verbruggen is Antonin Kinsky, who will surely want to leave Tottenham soon.

West Ham have been linked with Kinsky; meanwhile, clubs from France have also entered the race to sign him on loan in January.

The goalkeeper has played just 180 minutes of football this season and must be thinking about getting out of Spurs soon.

Tottenham Hotspur have won the race to sign Conor Gallagher, but have had to pay significant money to do so, making him their best-paid player ahead of Cristian Romero.

Tottenham have signed Gallagher in a deal worth £36 million from Atletico Madrid, with the midfielder returning to the Premier League after 18 months away.

Fill in the blank: Tottenham’s highest paid player should be ____________

Should Conor Gallagher overtake Romero?

The midfielder arrives at Tottenham just after Rodrigo Bentancur has been ruled out for three months with a hamstring injury.

The North London club showed real intent to sign him ahead of Aston Villa by acting quickly and offering big money.

Conor Gallagher becomes Tottenham’s highest-earner

Conor Gallagher has just become Tottenham Hotspur’s highest-earner following his move from Atletico Madrid, according to Graeme Bailey.

The midfielder has overtaken club captain Cristian Romero and summer signing Xavi Simons to top Spurs’ wage bill.

Last summer, Tottenham gave Romero a new deal, putting him on £195,000-per-week, but now he is second behind Gallagher.

MORE SPURS STORIES

In the Spanish capital, Capology states the England international was earning £150,000-per-week, so he has actually managed to secure a pay increase.

The Lilywhites have received a fair amount of stick in the past for their wage bill, but the Lewis Family have just shown things could be about to change.

Speaking about the 25-year-old’s move, Bailey told TeamTalk: “You know, let’s not forget Conor Gallagher, as we mentioned there, he’s probably going to be the highest-paid player at the club now, just ahead of Romero, just. So that is a consideration as well.”

Agree or disagree: Conor Gallagher is a bad fit for Tottenham…

Tottenham offering him such a high salary will surely have come into his thinking when deciding between the North London club and Villa.

The midfielder will be guaranteed more minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, rather than competing with the likes of Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans in the Midlands.

On the weekend, Gallagher is set to make his Tottenham debut in a London derby against Premier League strugglers West Ham United.

James Maddison is buzzing about Conor Gallagher signing for Tottenham

One person who is buzzing about the arrival of Gallagher at Tottenham is James Maddison, who is already quite close with the England star.

Back in the summer, the pair were spotted at Wimbledon together in attendance at Centre Court, so this is great news for helping the 25-year-old to quickly settle in.

After Tottenham announced their new signing, Maddison responded on social media by saying: “Let’s goooo brother!”

Tottenham make decision as bids received for Will Lankshear

Alasdair Gold claims that Tottenham have received loan bids for striker Will Lankshear.

The English forward is currently out on loan at Oxford United, and despite that, clubs are willing to take a punt on him.

For them to sign the 20-year-old, Spurs would have to terminate his loan spell and then loan him out again.

However, that is not understood to be on the radar.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Will Lankshear has impressed for the youth teams…💪

Just how far do YOU see him going at Spurs?

Speaking on Talking Tottenham, Gold said: “Will Lankshear, Spurs really happy with how he’s going this season. He’s at Oxford United.

“He’s having a real kind of one of those seasons of development where a bit like we were talking with Souza at Santos in terms of it’s a tough grind of a season. Oxford are battling away at the bottom of the championship and Will Lankshear is learning loads.

“And from what I understand, they’ve had a few bids this month for impermanent bids as well, which they’ve knocked back because they believe that, you know what, might be developing into something here.”

“And this is the problem, isn’t it? You can’t just keep developing players and then just letting them go for, you know, minimal fees or even just not giving them a chance in the first team. So I think they’ve been really impressed with Will and what he’s doing there.”

“Obviously, he’s been joined by Jamie Donley now. Jamie got a concussion in the game. So it’s just a really unfortunate start to his Oxford time. But he knows exactly what Will Lankshear does on a football pitch.

“He knows his runs, he knows everything. So if anyone’s going to provide him with the bullets to fire, you know, it’s going to be Jamie. And it’s yeah, I think there’s a bit of growing excitement, hopefully, about what Will Lankshear is going to become.”

How is Lankshear faring at Oxford United?

The 20-year-old is playing in England’s second tier, which is a good level for his development.

He has played 24 league games this season, scoring six goals and providing an assist.

Lankshear also played in the FA Cup and scored in the only match he played for Oxford United.

While he has amassed plenty of appearances, he was not always a regular starter under manager Gary Rowett.

With Matt Blomfield now taking over the reins, it remains to be seen whether or not his game time increases.

Conor Gallagher will face one of his toughest opponents very soon at Tottenham - The Spurs News
Description

Tottenham have ended days of speculation to finally sign Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid.

The England midfielder has swapped the Metropolitano for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and returns to the UK, where he once starred for Chelsea.

Gallagher needs to hit the ground running for Tottenham with Thomas Frank clinging to his job and the club languishing in 14th place in the Premier League table.

Tottenham have some huge games on the horizon, starting with West Ham United on home soil this weekend, where both teams desperately need a victory.

Gallagher will hope to quickly stamp his authority on the Tottenham engine room, and it won’t actually be long before he’s coming up against a player he once considered his toughest opponent.

Conor Gallagher will face stern test early in Tottenham career

To kick start next month, Spurs will face the unenviable task of playing Manchester City.

The title-chasing juggernaut put 10 past Exeter in the FA Cup at the weekend, and ultimately, they look to be clicking as the season approaches the business end.

During an interview with ESPN, Gallagher was asked who his toughest three opponents were, and he named City star Rodri alongside Kevin De Bruyne and Cristiano Ronaldo.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Rodri has spent a lot of the last 18 months out injured, but unfortunately for Spurs – and the rest of the Premier League – he is now fit and ready to make an impact at City.

Gallagher will not relish coming up against Rodri on the 1st February, but it will be an intriguing battle nonetheless.

Gallagher can revitalise Tottenham

In recent weeks, Tottenham have looked really flat on the pitch and ultimately, Gallagher can improve that.

The player will bring heart and determination to Tottenham, and the hope will be that he can make an immediate impact.

Agree or disagree: Conor Gallagher is a bad fit for Tottenham…

Clearly, the powers that be at the club are backing Frank to turn things around in North London and are seemingly willing to back him with some new players.

With games against West Ham and Burnley to come first, City could provide the first real acid test for Tottenham with Gallagher in the team and he will hope to come out on top against a player he considers one of his toughest opponents.

Tottenham set to rake in £8.6m from sale

According to TYC Sports journalist German Garcia Grova, Spurs will now be raking in an additional £8.6m this winter.

While signing new players is important, the Lilywhites also need to balance the books with sales.

Alejo Veliz appears to be the next Tottenham player out the door in the January transfer window.

What would YOU have done to get the best out of Veliz at Spurs? 🤔

Let us know below! ⚽

MORE SPURS STORIES

Brazilian club Bahia have reached an agreement with the North London club to sign Veliz.

He is currently on loan at Rosario Central, but that deal could end if Spurs are to sell him permanently.

Thus far, the 23-year-old has not commented on his future, and an exit cannot be ruled out.

How has Veliz fared since his £13m move to Spurs?

Veliz moved to Spurs for a £13m fee from Rosario Central back in 2023.

At the time, many saw the London club signing a 20-year-old Argentine striker who could become a first-team regular in the near future.

However, despite making his debut against Liverpool and scoring his first goal for the club against Brighton, he failed to impress the coaches he was working under.

Sevilla signed him on loan in February 2024 and that summer, he was loaned out to Espanyol for the rest of the season.

The striker failed to impress in Spain and was once again loaned out in the summer, to his native country.

Now, it seems like he will be moving to another South American club, Bahia, who ply their trade in Brazil.

Not only have Spurs made a loss on the striker, but they have failed to develop a young prospect who they thought could have become a first-team player.

Fans will be hoping that the youth recruitment improves in the coming months as it has not been overly impressive in recent windows.

Thomas Frank could see another Tottenham player leaving in the January transfer window.

With Spurs currently in 14th place in the Premier League, Frank wants the board to bring in new players to give his side the best chance of competing for Europe.

Tottenham are still in the Champions League, but their chances of winning Europe’s elite club competition are slim, to say the least.

Change our mind: Tottenham must pay whatever it takes to SACK Thomas Frank…

Championship and League One clubs enter race for Tottenham defender

While it is important to sign players, showing some the door, either on loan or permanently, is just as crucial for the Lilywhites.

Frank undoubtedly will have some say on the transfer happenings at the club, but longer-term decisions may be made by the hierarchy.

Tottenham did recall Alfie Dorrington from his loan spell at Aberdeen at the start of the month.

Alfie Dorrington can one day become Tottenham’s best defender…😍

The 20-year-old made just six league appearances for the Scottish club and three of those were off the bench.

That undoubtedly was not sufficient for Spurs, and they decided that it was better for him to continue his development elsewhere.

According to Football London, clubs in the Championship and League One are keen on signing the centre-back in January.

What has Ange Postecoglou said about Alfie Dorrington?

Ange Postecoglou, during his time as Tottenham manager, was impressed with Dorrington.

The Australian was known to keep tabs on the Under-21s, and the English defender is one who stood out for him.

He said back in 2023: “With the young guys like Jamie, he’s been doing really well with the Under-21s consistently. Jamie and Alfie Dorrington have really stood out and that’s why they’ve been training with us.

“They’ve got to keep working and it doesn’t mean they’re ahead in the pecking order of people like Alfie Devine and Dane Scarlett, who are out on loan.

“I’ve been really pleased with Jamie and Alfie though, they’ve been working well.”

Dorrington did go on loan to Aberdeen last season as well, in the January transfer window, and there he impressed manager Jimmy Thelin.

Speaking highly of the youngster, Thelin said: “It’s a new environment for Alfie and a new context. It’s also new teammates and a different style of how we play and even how we train.

“He has adapted really well and taken on that responsibility.

“Alfie has adapted to the league and our style. He has been really good in the last games.”
