Tottenham will kickstart their 2024/25 Premier League season on Monday evening when they take on Championship title winners Leicester City. 92 days since they last played in the league, Ange Postecoglou's men look to bring three points back to north London.

Spurs travel to the King Power Stadium as heavy favourites to come out on top. Leicester return to the top-flight after storming the Championship but have lost their head coach and best player throughout the summer.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Newcastle United all won their opening games of the season over the weekend. Tottenham will be keen to ensure they don't fall behind their league rivals so early in the season.

Summer signing Dominic Solanke is set to make his debut for the north Londoners with Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall also in contention to feature at the King Power Stadium.

"When you play a promoted side on the opening day of the season at their place - it isn’t going to be an easy game," Postecoglou said. "Their crowd will be up for it and there will be plenty of excitement for them being back in the Premier League.

"It’s going to be a tough test for us but at the same time over the last year we’ve known how important it is to get off to a good start in the Premier League and that’s what we will try to do."

Ahead of the game, AI technology provided by SportCasting has played out tonight's contest. Unfortunately for Spurs, it was a repeat of last season's frustrating draw at Brentford, with AI predicting a 2-2 draw.

The technology's run of the game saw Spurs fall 1-0 down thanks to former Arsenal winger Stephy Mavididi before Solanke marked his debut for the club with a goal thanks to James Maddison's assist. Captain Son Heung-min put Postecoglou's men ahead in the 57th minute but Wilfred Ndidi rescued a point for the Foxes from a set-piece.

Tottenham will be hoping to start their 2024/25 Premier League as they did the last, as they take on newly-promoted Leicester City on Monday evening.

Ange Postecoglou's side didn't lose a Premier League game until November last season, and after adding Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall in the transfer window so far, Spurs will be hoping they can make a similar start in this campaign. They will have to make do without Yves Bissouma, after he was suspended for this game for off-field issues, but new signings Solanke and Gray are likely to make their debuts.

Can Tottenham get off to a winning start in the Premier League? Let's take a look.

We simulated Leicester City vs Tottenham to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 24 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions, however as we're still using EA FC 24, the kits and squad numbers may not be accurate.

We predict that Spurs could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Bentancur, Gray, Maddison; Son, Solanke, Kulusevski.

We predict that Leicester City could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Hermansen; Justin, Vestergaard, Faes, Peirera; Winks, Ndidi; De Cordova-Reid, Fatawu, Mavididi; Daka.

The away side were absolutely flying in the opening stages, with Daka and Fatawu both going close in the first few minutes to give Tottenham a scare early on. But after weathering the storm, Spurs grew into the game and were soon in the ascendancy, and in the 35th minute, it was the former Leicester City man James Maddison who gave the away side the lead, with a beautifully taken finish on the counter.

Led by new signing Gray, the youngster fed Son Heung-min who cut inside and played in Maddison, who then beat Vestergard with a stepover before curling a finish into the bottom corner with his weaker foot. The second half was much quieter, but Spurs still could have extended their lead, with Solanke in particular unlucky to grab a goal on debut after hitting the post late on.

EA FC 24 predicts that Tottenham will start their 2024/25 Premier League campaign with a win against newly-promoted Leicester City on Monday, with Maddison scoring the only goal in what could be a closely-matched game.

EA FC 24 predicted final score: Leicester City 0-1 Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur get their season up and running with an opening game at Leicester City in the Premier League on Monday evening.

Ange Postecoglou is looking for Spurs to make a major impact this season and at the King Power Stadium he will have four new faces to use in Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Wilson Odobert, as well as one returning one in Timo Werner. The midfield offers plenty of potential options, despite Yves Bissouma's one-game suspension by the club following his laughing gas incident.

Gray has played the most minutes of the midfielders in pre-season and has experience of playing against Leicester last season, while Pape Matar Sarr has also got plenty of minutes in his legs this summer. Rodrigo Bentancur has only had 45 minutes this summer but looked sharp on his return to Tottenham duty against Bayern.

James Maddison has not had the most consistent of pre-seasons but will be even more motivated than usual for the trip to his old club so might just get in ahead of Lucas Bergvall and Dejan Kulusevski, who has impressed centrally but could find himself back on the right wing.

The goalkeeper and back four should be the familiar unit we saw for much of last season, with the returning Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven getting 45 minutes each against Bayern Munich last weekend. Destiny Udogie got his first 45 minutes under his belt and after three weeks of training with the team the Italian should be in a position to get at least an hour to his name on Monday evening.

Up top, Solanke is likely to make his debut following his £65million signing from Bournemouth, with Son Heung-min and Kulusevski the sharpest attackers in pre-season and first in line to get the spots either side of the forward. Odobert is likely to have to wait for his chance following his move from Burnley.

Here is the Tottenham we reckon Postecoglou could select to face the Foxes:

Tottenham have been rather active in the transfer market this summer with incomings and outgoings taking place. Ange Postecoglou's squad for the 2024/25 season is starting to take shape but we could well see a bit more movement before the transfer deadline on Friday, August 30.

As part of the changes in north London this summer, Spurs have already allowed six of their players to head out on loan for the new term. Three of the players have headed abroad, with the other three remaining in England and securing moves to the EFL.

So how exactly did the Tottenham players currently out on loan fare over the weekend? football.london takes a look below.

Matthew Craig (Barnsley)

Matthew Craig helped Barnsley bounce back from an opening weekend defeat against Mansfield Town as the South Yorkshire club won 2-1 away at Lincoln City on Saturday afternoon. The Tottenham youngster started in midfield for the third successive match but he would once again not see out the full 90 minutes.

Replaced on 62 minutes against Mansfield and then on 57 minutes in the midweek Carabao Cup win at Wigan Athletic, the 21-year-old this time played 56 minutes against The Imps. The games keep on coming thick and fast for Craig and his new club as they host Manchester United Under-21s in the Football League Trophy on Tuesday evening before then playing Northampton Town on Saturday.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Marseille)

We're counting Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as part of Tottenham's loan army as he technically joined Marseille on loan with an obligation to buy last month. The Dane made his official debut for the French giants on Saturday as they secured a convincing 5-1 win away at Brest.

In a game where Mason Greenwood marked his Marseille bow with a double, Hojbjerg played the full game for Roberto De Zerbi's team. The 29-year-old did deliver a strong showing for his new club, notably by registering a 91% pass completion rate, making 11 defensive actions, 13 recoveries, five interceptions and winning three tackles.

Speaking at his official presentation at the beginning of last week, Hojbjerg's late winner for Tottenham against Marseille in the Champions League back in 2022 was brought up.

"If you want me to apologise, I will, no problem (laughs)," said the Denmark ace (via RMC Sport). "It was several years ago. I remember a magnificent stadium. The result for me was not bad. I did what I could for the colours I defended."

On joining Marseille, he added: "When I spoke to the people here, I understood how everyone worked and was committed to making the club successful. Everyone works very hard and is passionate. It was difficult to say no. The club showed a lot of interest in me and that made me feel good."

Bryan Gil (Girona)

Bryan Gil also made his debut for new club Girona on the opening weekend of the La Liga season. Starting the league campaign at Real Betis on Thursday evening, the winger played 81 minutes in a 1-1 draw at Estadio Benito Villamarin.

Gil did have an impact on the game as he looked to make things happen in the final third for Girona. Having four shots on goal, one of which was on target, he registered a 90% pass completion rate, created two chances, made four passes into the final third, was successful with three of his five dribbles, accurate with both of his long balls and he also won three of his four tackles.

"We wanted the three points, but nothing to blame a team that gave it their all during the 90. Just the start of an exciting season ahead," he wrote on his Instagram account after the game.

Girona's next La Liga fixture sees them travel to Atletico Madrid on Sunday evening.

Alejo Veliz (Espanyol)

Alejo Veliz will have the opportunity to make his Espanyol debut on Monday evening when his new side travel to Real Valladolid. With the opening weekend of the La Liga season spread over five days, Veliz and his teammates have had to bide their time to play following their return to the Spanish top flight.

The Tottenham youngster will certainly be looking to make up for lost time after having to make do with only 31 minutes in his six appearances for Sevilla in the second half of last term. Speaking at his Espanyol presentation last week, the striker opened up on how much he pushed for a move to the Spanish club and also about taking on the No.9 shirt.

“Since my agents told me that this possibility existed, I told them to push hard because I wanted to come here," he said, as reported by Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness. “I want to settle in this club. I am not thinking only about staying up but about doing something better, about having a good season and taking the team as high up as possible."

He added: "Wearing the 'No.9' doesn't put pressure on me. It's a very important number because of everything it entails, but I feel ready and eager to get started."

Dane Scarlett (Oxford United)

Dane Scarlett tasted defeat on his Oxford United debut on Friday evening following a last-gasp 3-2 loss away at Coventry City. The striker was introduced in the 90th minute of the contest but he was restricted to only one touch of the ball with the hosts putting The U's under some real pressure before Haji Wright capitalised on a defensive blunder deep into stoppage time to win the game.

Unfortunately signed too late to be involved in last Tuesday's 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Peterborough United, Scarlett will be hoping to get a good amount of pitch time under his belt at the weekend when Oxford travel to Blackburn Rovers. Another trip to Coventry is on the agenda the following week after the Championship newcomers were paired against Mark Robins' side in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Jamie Donley (Leyton Orient)

Completing his season-long loan move to Leyton Orient on Friday afternoon, Jamie Donley went straight into the starting XI for their game away at Charlton. There was to be disappointment for the attacker on his Orient bow as they fell to a 1-0 defeat following Luke Berry's winner in the second minute of second-half stoppage-time.

The 19-year-old played 70 minutes of the contest at The Valley, lining up in an attacking midfield role behind striker Dan Agyei.

In London World's player ratings, Donley came out on top for his new club with a score of eight out of ten. They wrote: "A really bright debut having only signed for the club yesterday. The Tottenham Hotspur loanee was clearly keen to impress as he looked to make things happen with his vision. An exciting campaign ahead for him."

Donley now has the opportunity to work under Richie Wellens at Orient and the manager of the east London club is very much looking forward to developing the youngster over the course of the season.

"Jamie brings talent, skill, goals and assists. He's technically very good and is someone who Spurs rate highly and they think he can play for their first-team in the future," he told the club's official website.

"We're proud that Tottenham have trusted us to work with and develop him in the first phase of his career. I think that I'm good at working with younger players, getting that balance right by putting demands on them, but also realising when to get the talent and the ability shining through."

Donley also believes that Leyton Orient is the perfect environment for him as he takes the next step in his young career.

"I think it is the right time for me to make my first loan move, and I think that Orient is the perfect club for me right now," he explained. "I want to get that first-team football under my belt, and to do it at this great club, with the fans, the players and the staff, it is the best place for me to come."

Donley's next game for Leyton Orient comes on Saturday as they host Birmingham City at the Gaughan Group Stadium. Heavily linked with a move to St Andrew's this summer, the game will see Donley come face-to-face with former Tottenham senior assistant coach Chris Davies after he took over at the League One club in June.

Postecoglou explains big Solanke decision, reason for Maddison form and Son's best position

Ange Postecoglou has explained why he wanted Tottenham to sign Dominic Solanke and has spoken about James Maddison's struggles to regain his form of early last season.

Spurs go into their opening match of the Premier League season on Monday night with a trip to promoted Leicester City and Postecoglou will have a new £65million striker up front in Solanke after his move from Bournemouth. The Tottenham boss was asked what role he had in the signing of the 26-year-old and whether there was a particular game last season that made him sit up and take notice of the striker.

"Well, my role in all the signings is pretty small. I just made the decision, mate. So, I'm the one that says yes or no. They're here because I want them here and Dom certainly fits that boat, but no there wasn’t one performance. I mean yeah I thought he did well against us and he gave us some real problems that a lot of strikers in the league didn’t in his mobility. His movement was really impressive," he said.

"There’s no secret we love to press and he’s got a great work ethic and he scores goals. He is a presence and scores different types of goals. I think the way we play suits him and I really liked where he was in his career. I am a big one on understanding the person, the person's motivation and he was obviously an outstanding young player. He got to some big clubs, but it never worked out for him and it’s what you do in that scenario.

"Do you think 'it’ll never happen for me' or do you work your way back and he’s done remarkably well to get himself into a position where he scored 19 goals in the Premier League last year, which we all know is a fair feat and he’s got himself back to a big club. I love that aspect because I know he has the right sort of mentality.

"It was a whole range of things that meant I was really keen to bring him in. Sometimes these things are about timing and I thought it was a good time for him, but also a good time for us to bring him in because we have a really young group. He’s one that is proven at Premier League level and he improves us."

With Richarlison missing a chunk of last season with a couple of injuries, Spurs skipper Son Heung-min came off the flank and filled in through the middle frequently. Postecoglou believes that having Solanke and a fit Richarlison as options up top allows the South Korean star to get back to the left wing where he thinks Son and the team look most comfortable.

Spurs have since added another winger in the shape of Burnley's Wilson Odobert in a deal worth £25million and another £5million on add-ons for the 19-year-old dribbler.

"I definitely think as much as the injuries at the back cost us last year and they did cost us, that was mainly because we lost three quarters of our back line for a big chunk of time, but I still felt it was up front where we were most short and could improve the most," said the Australian.

"A lot of that was that Richy when he played was outstanding, but he had a lot of injuries last year, so then we had to play Sonny inside. You know, it was Brennan's first year at the club, he's only 22 and his first year at a big club, but I still thought he did well. We had to sign Timo, we lost Perisic and Solomon first or second round. So, we were down two wingers. I really felt it was the area we needed to bulk up in the off-season and just going into the season with Dom and Richy there, two real good presences in the striking position.

"It doesn’t mean Sonny can’t play through the middle during the year, but I think we look a much better team when he’s out wide on the left. That’s the exciting bit that we were looking for improvement. We needed to improve in the front third and we have with bringing Dom in."

One player who hit the ground running last summer before going off the boil following his return from a serious ankle injury was Maddison. The 27-year-old struggled to match his performances in the opening 10 games of the campaign and that culminated in him missing out on the England squad for the Euros after failing to make the final cut just before the tournament.

The midfielder has still not rediscovered his rhythm during pre-season just yet, despite some glimpses of what he is capable of, and Postecoglou is expecting him to hit his stride in the coming campaign.

"Even though it wasn't a significant injury in terms of time out, it still was significant in that, you know, for Madders, it set him back a fair bit. Then, even when he came back, he had a couple of other smaller disruptions and I think when he came back into the team, we were kind of also struggling which doesn’t help him in terms of the kind of player he is," said the Spurs boss.

"He had the disappointment with the Euros obviously, but he's working hard at pre-season. The good thing is he's fit and he's laid himself a good opportunity and foundation to have another strong season. The disappointment of missing the Euros, well that's just again part of being a footballer.

"We take all the good stuff, but you have setbacks and it’s how you react to those, and you know, I'm sure he’ll want to go out there and get himself back into the international frame and get back playing for England. Again, that's up to him to find the right way to use that as a motivation.

"If you just deflect or at any point kind of say ‘you know it had nothing to do with me,’ then you miss an opportunity I think to improve. Yeah, I’ve sensed in Madders that he’s come back, he’s really determined to have a big season and hopefully that gets him back in the England frame, but more importantly for us hopefully gets him back to the form we know he can have."

So did Postecoglou sit down with Maddison after his Euros disappointment so ensure his confidence was not hit too hard by Gareth Southgate's decision?

"No, look I haven’t sat down with him but I don’t know what a confidence player really means. I think as a player, you’ve got to be on it all the time, mate. You can’t pick and choose. If you are physically fit and you get selected, you should be buzzing. I don’t think with Madders, he certainly doesn’t lack self-belief and he knows he can be a really dominant player. I think with Madders, a lot of it last year was the physical element," said the Spurs boss.

"When he wasn’t 100 per cent fit, then he couldn’t really perform at the levels he wanted to and even when he came back from injury, I never felt like he reached those physical levels he did earlier in the year. So, that’s a real key for him, if he’s training really well and in a good physical condition then I think his game flows from that.

"That’s what we’re trying to do with him, we’ve tried to give him a really strong pre-season to try to push him in a physical way where I think when he feels good about that, the rest of it goes from there rather than him lacking any confidence or self-belief."

He added: "It’s the reason we signed him. He’s an exciting player. When the ball’s at his feet, he is one of those creative types and you know for most people that's what rocks their boat. Others love a big tackle or a great save, but he’s definitely a player who can get punters off their seats.

"I think players feed off that as well, so yeah it’s important for us that he’s playing at his best. I think he makes us a better team and a more dangerous team. Hopefully that’s what we see."

Postecoglou has won trophies and titles in his second seasons at clubs across the world, so does he expect another big jump in year two at Tottenham or a slower burn at the north London outfit?

"Dunno," said the Australian before a big pause. "I expect what I expect all the time - to do my job and see what that brings. I'd suggest it's not by accident [that my clubs win trophies in my second season]. We'll improve and see where that takes," he said.

"What the end of last year showed is that we're still not rock solid in having a real belief in what we're trying to do. That's only natural. It's not unusual in my first year that it takes time for these things to become truly embedded and you've got to go through some tough times to reveal those things because if you don't go through tough times, how do you really know?

"It's not like I never felt the group were totally all in on what we were trying to do, it's just that it's still up to me to lead them through that. I think we're still in that phase. I'm still going to be the major driver in becoming the team we want to be. That's OK, that's part of the process.

"I feel we're better prepared. The players are better prepared, even mentally in knowing what we have to tackle this year and how we're going to tackle it if we go through difficult times, which we invariably will because every team does. Hopefully going through what we did last year means that we don't have such a big disparity between our best and our worst."

Tottenham 'reach agreement' for £20m Oliver Skipp transfer with medical booked

Leicester City have reached an agreement with Tottenham to sign Oliver Skipp, according to reports. The 23-year-old is set to undergo a medical on Sunday before completing a permanent move to the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes are expected to pay in excess of £20million for the midfielder, according to The Athletic. The deal is viewed as a good deal all round by the parties involved in the transfer.

Skipp struggled for game time under Ange Postecoglou last season. He made 24 appearances in all competitions but was predominantly used as a substitute. In fact, Skipp started just seven Premier League matches.

The Tottenham academy graduate has three years left to run on his contract and is now set to leave the club. It has been reported that Skipp has said goodbye to his teammates ahead of his move to Leicester.

Since making his first-team debut in 2018, Skipp has made 106 appearances for the club. Skipp spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Norwich and played 47 times for the Championship side.

Spurs travel to Leicester in their Premier League curtain-raiser on Monday, but Skipp won't be able to feature even if his move to the Foxes goes through before kick-off. This is because the registration deadline for this weekend's matches was at 12pm on Friday.

Skipp will be reunited with ex-Spurs teammate Harry Winks at Leicester. Winks, who moved to the East Midlands in a £10m deal last summer, impressed for the Foxes in 2023/24 and is expected to line up in midfield against his former employers.

Meanwhile, James Maddison is set for his first return to the King Power following his £40m move from Leicester to Spurs back in June 2023. Maddison enjoyed a strong start to his Tottenham career but struggled at the back end of the season after returning from injury.

Speaking ahead of the fixture and the start to the Premier League season, Postecoglou said: "I go into every season with the same kind of target of trying to be successful. The starting point for us is improvement. Improvement in our football, improvement in the consistency of our football.

"As you said, we had a decent season last year. We certainly improved on the season last year in terms of results alone. Obviously, we changed the football and we had some really good moments and some moments where we had to work really hard to get some results and probably the back end of last season was disappointing for us.

"There’s a lot in there but for us if we can get improvement in that then more consistency gives us an opportunity and a platform to try to achieve something which is what you go into every season trying to do."

Ange Postecoglou makes clear Djed Spence statement and truth about Vanderson links to Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Djed Spence is going to be part of his Tottenham squad this season and will give him good options.

football.london reported earlier this week that the 24-year-old was expected to remain at the club this season and be given a chance to finally make his mark as another option at right-back alongside Pedro Porro and Archie Gray, following three loan spells away at Rennes, Leeds and Genoa since arriving from Middlesbrough in 2022. Reports linking Spurs with a move for Monaco's Vanderson are believed to remain wide of the mark.

Spence's time at Tottenham did not get off to the best of starts with Antonio Conte dismissing him as a player the club wanted to buy before he had even been announced and the right-back has played just over 40 competitive minutes of football in the past two years for Spurs.

However, this summer Spence has returned with a real drive to impress and has managed to do that with Postecoglou and his coaching staff.

“It’s one of those things that when you start pre-season, we had quite a few guys who were out on loan last year," said the Tottenham boss ahead of the opening game of the Premier League season at Leicester City. "Part of me is saying, OK, we need to keep evolving this squad. The guys go out on loan for a reason.

"Have they come back [and now] are they a better fit, are they part of what we’re doing? With Djed, I had an open mind. I certainly think the kind of characteristics he has would fit into our football. It’s then more about, OK, well he obviously didn't fit last year, will he fit this year?

"He’s had a good pre-season. He’s trained really well. He seems to have fit into the group really well."

Spence has started Spurs' past two friendlies against Bayern Munich, filling in on the left for Destiny Udogie as the young Italian worked his way back from injury. While Postecoglou does not see Spence being a long-term option on the left, his versatility will help the squad at points this season.

"I don’t think left-back is his obvious position, I think he’s more of a right full-back, but the fact that he can play out on the left, again gives us some good options into the season where with European football we’re going to have more challenges," said the Australian.

"It was quite obvious last year that whenever we had disruptions in terms of injuries or suspensions, our performance dropped a fair bit. We’re trying to narrow that gap.

"Hopefully having Djed as part of our squad allows us to do that. He’s training well, he’s available for Monday and I’ll make those decisions at the weekend."

One thing Spence has been associated with in the past by former managers is lapses in his attitude, but Postecoglou made it clear that there had not been any hint of a problem this summer at Tottenham.

"You would know about it if it was. He wouldn’t be part of it if it was," he said. "But that’s probably something that, whether that was right or wrong, as a person and as a player, Djed has taken responsibility for that and not allowed that to be part of the conversation this pre-season.

"For me and all the coaches, we’ve had absolutely zero issues with his attitude. He’s trained really well, he’s fit into the group really well. That’s on him. He’s the one who hasn’t allowed it to become an issue."

Postecoglou has had plenty to deal with this week after experienced midfielder Yves Bissouma uploaded videos on social media appearing to show him inhaling laughing gas, also known as nitrous oxide, which has been illegal to use recreationally since last year.

Spurs handed the Mali international a one-game suspension and his misdemeanour disappointed Postecoglou, who said the 27-year-old had to regain his trust. The Australian admitted that while it was an extra unexpected thing to deal with as he prepares for the opening match of the season, it's something he has to just take into his stride.

"You would be surprised what you have to deal with as a manager, mate," he said. "I sat here last year in this exact press conference knowing that Harry [Kane] was leaving. I didn't break down, I wasn't in tears - I was OK. It's part of a manager's life and you kind of know with experience that you need to find ways of dealing with these things so it doesn't impact too much on anything else that's going on.

"Because it's unfair to everybody else, my responsibility lies with the whole organisation. You kind of get used to the fact that unexpected things will happen and it's important you deal with them in the best way you possible can, with all the information you have.

"So I make decisions accordingly and move on really quickly to what's really important, and what's really important is that we've got a game Monday night. For our supporters and our club, I've got to make sure my headspace is getting me team ready for that."

Wilson Odobert's first words on Tottenham transfer, ambitions and Son Heung-min

New Tottenham signing Wilson Odobert says he feels he shares the same ambitious as the club and is determined to succeed under Ange Postecoglou.

The 19-year-old, who joined from Burnley, penned a five-year deal that will run until 2029. The former Paris Saint-Germain academy starlet made 35 appearances in all competitions during his time at Turf Moor, playing in different positions such as midfield, up front and on the wing.

Odobert made the fourth most successful dribbles by a teenager in Europe's top five leagues last season with 53 and the most for a teenager in the Premier League. football.london understands the player will cost Spurs £25million plus £5m in add-ons.

Speaking on what attracted him most to join Spurs, Odobert told club media: "First and foremost Tottenham is a big club and it's hugely ambitious too. I think the club and myself share the same ambitions, we're pretty much on the same wavelength.

"I've got a decent amount of pace. I like to take people on in one-on-one situations and dribble, I like to get on the ball and have plenty of touches. I like to bring other in, to entertain and at the same time enjoy my football too. I really feel I'll be part of a great project here which enjoys fantastic support and a superb stadium.

"It's a top club, and all these factors helped convince me to come here."

He also went on to reveal Song Heung-min was one of the players that inspired him to get to how he is now as a player. "I went through the youth system at Paris Saint-Germain's Academy," he added.

"I used to watch players like Neymar, Robinho and Ronaldinho, all three were great dibblers and top players too. I tried to gain my inspiration from them. Son as well because he was also a source of inspiration for me. I then signed my first professional contract at Troyes. My next move took me to Burnley, it was a good experience for me and it was a great way for me to settle into English football because this league isn't an easy one to get used to playing in.

"But that gave me the chance and helped me to grow and develop as a player, in terms of technique and mentality on the field and as a person off it. It's a tough ask to come here and play against Tottenham, it's not at all easy. From the outset, I was hugely impressed. Impressed by the stadium and the supporters, now here I am as a Spurs player!

"I'm really up for it, to do everything I can, to fight really hard, to succeed in winning the fans over and to help the club to get results. Because that's important I think, even though I'm still young.

"I want to be ambitious, I really want to play too and I'm keen to please the fans and to do myself proud in front of them. This is a massive club and that's why I'm so happy to be here with you all right now. Thanks very much for all your support and I'll see you soon out there on the pitch."

Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham side now look very well stocked for wingers heading into the 2024/25 Premier League season. Already boasting a number of wide options, the club added to their squad on Friday morning with the signing of Wilson Odobert from Championship side Burnley.

A transfer that very much came out of nowhere with barely any talk about a switch to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium beforehand, the 19-year-old has signed a five-year contract in north London and he takes on the No.28 shirt vacated by Tanguy Ndombele. Odobert makes the move from Turf Moor for £25million plus another £5million in add-ons.

The Frenchman is no stranger to the Premier League after playing 29 games in England's top flight for the Clarets last season, registering three goals and three assists in the process. Maybe not the most eye-catching numbers posted by the teenager, it needs to be remembered that Odobert was playing in a struggling Burnley team and that he will only benefit from his time in the Premier League and also the challenge of a relegation scrap.

Odobert demonstrated his pace and quality at the beginning of the week after scoring in Burnley's 4-1 win away at Luton Town on the opening weekend of the season. It proved to be his final appearance for the Lancashire club with a surprise move to Tottenham finalised four days later.

Odobert's permanent switch to N17 does appear to be bad news for Manor Solomon going forward. Restricted to only six appearances last term and only returning to action in pre-season due to a knee injury, the Israeli's football in the team's summer friendlies has also been limited to say the least.

An unused substitute in the past three friendlies and now behind Mikey Moore and Odobert in the pecking order, a move away before the month is out looks like it will be the best option for Solomon when it comes to playing regularly. Odobert's transfer could also potentially impact Timo Werner at the end of this season.

Joining Tottenham in January on a loan deal until the end of the campaign, the German re-signed on a season-long loan earlier this summer rather than the club striking the option in their initial agreement with RB Leipzig to buy him permanently. There is once again an option for Tottenham to buy Werner in the new agreement between the clubs, with Spurs able to sign him for just £8.5million next summer.

Quite whether they do indeed activate the clause ahead of the 2025/26 season will all become clear in the months ahead. Werner certainly gives Postecoglou and Tottenham experience in attack but the 28-year-old may find regular starts hard to come by with Son Heung-min ahead of him in the pecking order on the left.

Brennan Johnson, Richarlison and Moore are further options who can play from that side of the pitch and Odobert is now an additional choice there following his switch from Burnley. The vast majority of the Frenchman's playing time did come from the left flank last season, with the player also capable of playing on the opposite wing, as an attacking midfielder and also as a centre forward.

Tottenham will also have Yang Min-hyeok to consider from January onwards after announcing the arrival of the 18-year-old from K League side Gangwon FC at the end of last month. Yang will remain with his current club in South Korea for the remainder of the season before moving to Tottenham at the turn of the year.

The teenager has so far split his time between the right wing and left wing for Gangwon FC this season, although he does mainly operate from the right. Postecoglou is certainly going to have plenty of choice going forward and that may well prove crucial when it comes to what comes next for Werner at the end of this season.

The former Chelsea man turns 29 at the beginning of March and Postecoglou may want to opt for younger options come the 2025/26 season. Werner does crucially bring experience, though, and all he can do this season is give Postecoglou and Johan Lange no option but to sign him permanently if he delivers in a very important year for the Lilywhites.

Tottenham are building for the future right now and that is clear to see from their transfer activity this summer with teenagers Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Yang and Odobert all signing on the dotted line. Odobert is a very interesting addition and one that could have an impact on both Solomon and Werner in the months ahead.

The unusual nature of Tottenham's unveiling of new £30m signing Wilson Odobert

Tottenham have a new signing in the shape of Wilson Odobert even if his £30million move from Burnley came with as little fanfare as possible to begin with.

Spurs snapped up the talented 19-year-old French dribbler from the Clarets in a deal worth an initial £25million plus another potential £5million in add-ons. Odobert penned a contract until 2029 and will take the shirt number 28 once worn by his compatriot Tanguy Ndombele.

The young attacker, who can play on either wing or through the middle in attack and midfield, played 29 times in the Premier League last season despite his tender age with three goals and three assists. He made the most successful dribbles by a teenager in the competition and the fourth most in Europe's top five leagues last season with 53.

Odobert scored for Burnley against Luton this week, showing his pace in their Championship opener, and now he will get to display that speed, dribbling and versatility in a Tottenham shirt for Ange Postecoglou.

There was little fanfare around his signing though to begin with on Friday morning, with no leaks of the move in the media in the days before and it seemed to surprise Spurs as well, as they simply put out a short story to say the teenager had signed, without the usual club tease of a new signing.

Even the player himself simply changed the bio in his Instagram account to say Spurs, with no posts about his former and new club. It then took seven hours for the club to post anything more about the transfer, before Odobert was finally shown in his new kit in an amusing video that made light of the long wait.

In the latest episode of their podcast Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham, our Spurs correspondents Alasdair Gold and Rob Guest discussed the young attacker's transfer, his unusual unveiling and what he will bring to the club. They also spoke about Jamie Donley's new contract and loan move to Leyton Orient as well as what else is to come in the transfer window from Tottenham.
