James Eden, Deputy Director of 999 Control Centres at London Ambulance Service and lifelong Tottenham Hotspur fan, will descend 42 metres from the top of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as part of the London Ambulance Charity’s Big Stadium Abseil.

Mr Eden said: "I was born in Tottenham and grew up on White Hart Lane, virtually in the shadow of the stadium.

"The neighbourhood is home for me and I’ve been a lifelong Spurs fan so I wanted to give something back to the community.

"I’ve grown up with a huge love for the club and know the local communities in Tottenham so it’s really nice to help out.

"It’s a bit of a full circle moment for me."

The challenge will help fund defibrillators, CPR training in the community, and wellbeing support for frontline crews.

Mr Eden helps oversee all 999 emergency calls for LAS as well as incident response officers who manage complex emergencies across the capital.

The club recently parted ways with Thomas Frank after just 38 games in charge.

The decision comes just months after the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou following a disappointing season that saw Spurs finish 17th in the Premier League.

Frank’s tenure ended after a run of just two wins in 17 league matches, leaving the team out of both domestic cup competitions and hovering near the relegation zone.

Now, attention has turned to who could lead the club forward in north London.

Here are some of the contenders:

Mauricio Pochettino

One of the most popular names among fans is former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Mr Pochettino, who guided Tottenham to a Champions League final in 2019 and developed a young, exciting squad during his previous spell, has often spoken about his connection with the club and his desire to return to the Premier League.

His name was even chanted by supporters during Tuesday’s defeat to Newcastle .

Although he is currently expected to manage the United States at this summer’s World Cup, his contract is set to expire after the tournament, potentially opening the door for a dramatic return.

Andoni Iraola

Another leading candidate is Andoni Iraola, currently in charge at Bournemouth.

Mr Iraola has impressed in the Premier League, transforming Bournemouth’s style of play.

He led them to record points, wins, and their highest-ever finish in the top flight.

The 43-year-old’s contract is up in June.

He is expected to attract interest from several clubs, including Tottenham.

Oliver Glasner

Oliver Glasner, currently at Crystal Palace, is another name being considered.

Mr Glasner has earned praise for his achievements at Eintracht Frankfurt, including winning the Europa League.

He led the club to a maiden FA Cup triumph.

The Austrian coach is known for developing young talent.

Roberto De Zerbi

Previously tracked by Tottenham during his time at Brighton, De Zerbi left a strong impression during his 18-month stay on the south coast.

He led Brighton on a memorable run in the Europa League.

He has since managed Marseille, though his tenure ended following the club’s failure to reach the Champions League knockout stages.

Mr De Zerbi is known for his prickly demeanour and attacking football.

Xavi

Another high-profile option is former Barcelona manager Xavi.

Xavi has been without a club since leaving Barcelona at the end of the 2023-24 season.

During his time at the Camp Nou, he delivered the club’s first LaLiga title in four years.

He also gave opportunities to emerging young players.

Although his departure was surrounded by uncertainty after a series of managerial U-turns, his reputation remains strong.
