As Spurs host Man City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the north London side are on course to claim their fourth successive Premier League victory. Ange Postecoglou looked to have been heading towards the sack after crashing out the League Cup and FA Cup earlier this month but now sees his miseries get alleviated with many of his stars returning from injury.

On the other hand, Manchester City's struggles continued after Sunday's 2-0 defeat to league leaders Liverpool, who claimed their first win at the Etihad in a decade. But not all is lost for the defending Premier League champions as they are still alive in the race for the Champions League qualifying spots unlike their upcoming opponents, who are down in 13th. A win tonight will lift the Sky Blues to fourth above Chelsea.

Postecoglou will be pleased to see his Tottenham Hotspur squad returning to full fitness piece-by-piece, but they're still without Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero in defence. While the two centre-backs could return in time for Spurs' Europa League last 16 tie against AZ Alkmaar, Radu Dragusin will be ruled out for the entire season after tearing his ACL. Dominic Solanke and Richarlison are also unavailable in attack.

As for the visitors, Guardiola crucially welcomes Erling Haaland back into the squad after he missed out on the home defeat to the Reds due to a knee injury. Defenders John Stones and Manuel Akanji continue with their spells on the sidelines due to injuries alongside long-term absentee Rodri, who suffered an ACL injury at the start of the campaign, and Oscar Bobb.

Confirmed lineups for Spurs v City

Tottenham's starting XI (4-3-3): Vicario (GK); Porro, Gray, Danso, Udogie; Bentancur, Bergvall, Maddison; Johnson, Tel, Odobert.

Tottenham Hotspur do not want to be known as 'Tottenham'. According to 'The Athletic', the north London side have sent out an email to TV rights-holders around the world, asking them to solely use the names 'Tottenham Hotspur' or 'Spurs' when referring to the club.

In an email titled “Tottenham Hotspur Naming Update”, the Premier League side wrote: "Tottenham Hotspur have provided clarification regarding the club’s name. They have requested that the club are primarily known as Tottenham Hotspur, with Spurs being the preferred short version. The club have requested that they are not referred to as Tottenham."

'Sky Sports' have seemingly adhered to the club's request, with many noting subtle changes made to the graphics from Spurs' 1-0 win over Manchester United onward. During his pre-match press interviews, Ange Postecoglou is no longer referred to as 'Tottenham head coach' but instead as 'Tottenham Hotspur head coach'.

Spurs feel that 'Tottenham' does not represent the name of the club, but rather of the area in north London and have established it as club policy not to call themselves just 'Tottenham' since 2011. However, their request to broadcasters comes after a "remastered brand identity" unveiled in November.

Tottenham had a royal guest on Wednesday as King Charles III visited the club's facilities to attend an event highlighting the socio-economic impact of the club within the local community. During the event, the King met with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, captain Son Heung-min, and player Beth England.

It was during this occasion that Son confided in the monarch, revealing that the team is experiencing "a difficult time". When asked by King Charles about Tottenham's chances of defeating Manchester United this weekend, Son responded: "I hope so."

The South Korean forward has been facing criticism from fans, with this season proving to be one of his most challenging since joining the club. Tottenham's struggles have left them perilously close to the relegation zone in the Premier League.

Coming off the back of an embarrassing 3-6 defeat to Liverpool followed by a 1-0 loss at Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day, questions are being raised about Ange Postecoglou's future at Tottenham. The Australian is slowly losing the fans' support, who are increasingly getting more frustrated at their side's position irrespective of injuries.

Spurs are 11th in the Premier League table, while Wolves are 17th and eight points worse off. Although current standings suggest that the hosts are highly favourites this afternoon, the West Midlanders' latest 2-0 win over Amorim's Man United - tied along Spurs' inconsistency - proves they pose a serious threat to Postecoglou. Wolves seem revived under new boss Pereira, who has secured two wins from two games since replacing Gary O'Neil.

And with Tottenham's lengthy list of absentees, particularly cornering the defence, things are looking even brighter for the visitors ahead of kick-off. Djed Spence was sent off after a second yellow card at Forest, meaning he is suspended for the game. Ben Davies picked up a knock and therefore sits out today's clash. Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario and Wilson Odobert are all absent due to long-term injuries, while Richarlison is nearing his return.

As for Wolves, Yerson Mosquera, Enso Gonzalez and Sasa Kalajdzic are all sidelined with long-term injuries, though the latter is slowly making his comeback trail. Boubacar Traore is also out with a knee injury and is expected to return next month, while Mario Lemina remains a doubt after missing Wolves' Boxing Day win over Manchester United due to a muscle injury.

Tottenham v Wolves confirmed lineups

Tottenham's confirmed starting XI (4-2-3-1): Forster; Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Udogie; Bentancur, Bissouma; Johnson, Kulusevski, Son; Solanke.

'Logical' that fatigued Spurs are faltering - Postecoglou

Spurs sit 11th in the Premier League after their ninth defeat in 18 games this season. Postecoglou's men have fared better in other competitions as they have progressed to the League Cup semi-finals and are well on course to reach the Europa League knockout stage.

But those extra fixtures are putting a strain on a Spurs squad missing first-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and centre-backs Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies. Anthony Elanga's first-half goal was enough to lift Forest into third under former Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Tottenham enjoyed over 70 percent possession but failed to make it count at the City Ground. "We are asking a lot of this group of players, a lot of these guys are playing every three days," said Postecoglou.

"It's only logical they are not going to be at their sharpest, but they are trying. A disappointing goal we conceded, but aside from that the boys worked hard and we tried to generate as many opportunities as we could considering the context of the game and how Forest play. We just couldn't get over the line."

Postecoglou's defensive options for Sunday's clash against Wolves were further depleted when Djed Spence was sent off in stoppage time. And the club's only fit natural centre-back Radu Dragusin limped off late on.
