Should Man City really sell Savinho to Tottenham? - Read Man City
Savinho linked with Man City exit
Tottenham interested once again
Clubs closing in on an agreement
Savinho is not far off exiting Manchester City, but is selling him so early in his career the correct decision?
Speculation regarding Savinho’s future has been ongoing since last summer, when he was linked with Tottenham Hotspur.
However, the Brazilian remained at Man City with the hope of being selected by Pep Guardiola more often.
This has ultimately not been the case for Savinho, who started just seven Premier League matches over the course of the season. And now, he is closing in on a move to Spurs.
Selling Savinho comes with a few risks
Savinho only recently turned 22 years old, so he is still a young player with both the time and space to develop and improve.
And even right now, the winger is already a very good player. Last season he registered 10 assists in 29 Premier League appearances.
During the 2025/26 campaign, Savinho’s creativity was less evident, but he did manage to score four goals across all competitions.
Plus, the fact Guardiola wanted to keep him last season shows there is a player there, even if he did not get to play all that often.
So with a ceiling which has not yet been hit, deciding to offload Savinho this summer would certainly be a risky move.
No place in the starting lineup for Savinho
While Savinho is a talented attacker, he is not good enough at this point in time to be starting on either wing.
Jeremy Doku’s form towards the end of the season made him a clear-cut first choice option, while Antoine Semenyo has done well since he arrived from Bournemouth.
Should Savinho remain at City, he will be looking at another season where he spends a fair amount of time on the bench.
Therefore, even with his potential, sealing a move could prove to be the best decision to secure him a prosperous future.
Man City should sell Savinho if the right offer comes in
There is no reason to hold Savinho hostage when is keen on a move, especially when he is not going to be a regular starter.
It makes sense to the Citizens to sell their star, but only if Tottenham are willing to pay a reasonable transfer fee.
With the 22-year-old contracted to Man City until 2031, selling him for a cut-price fee is simply not necessary.
But if City can collect around £60m for Savinho, then allowing him to exit the club this summer would be a fair call.
